Blog:Episode framegrabs or promo images in the infobox
Since episode framegrabs got the most votes on Blog:Episode framegrabs or promo images in the infobox, should we change infobox images to framegrabs? ~ Phinbart (talk • contribs) 14:11, 3 May 2012 (EDT)

Another independent wiki
There is another independent wiki started by some unknown user **cough cough me cough**. Defiance Wiki for the tv and game series, wikia is not going to get the upper hand here! Escyos 12:45, 4 May 2012 (EDT)

Capitalization topic
I actually might be able to get on for the editor meeting today, but I wanted to make sure I had a "HELL NO!!!" on record as regarding capitalizing any of the words on that list when they occur in titles (except when they're the first word). Every style guide I've ever seen takes that approach for articles and prepositions: When they occur in a title, you only capitalize them if they're the first word of the title. My $.02 worth; hope to see you at the meeting. -- Mythigator 09:58, 5 May 2012 (EDT)
- Some of those words are generally capitalized (Is for instance, Wikipedia capitalizes it). Most I agree with though. I'll be sure to pass on your thoughts if you don't make it though. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 10:01, 5 May 2012 (EDT)
- "Is" and "Are" would be capitalized in titles because they're verbs. I didn't notice them on the list. -- Mythigator 10:35, 5 May 2012 (EDT)
- Did we ever come to a collective agreement about capitalization? -- Mythigator 09:10, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
- Pretty much. We follow standard naming procedures, look at Wikipedia if you aren't sure what words are capitalized or not. (Talk - Contribs.) 09:40, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
- That works fine for me. Thanks! -- Mythigator 09:43, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
- I still don't see why we should capitalise "is" in titles like "A Star Is Burns" and "Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife", and not for titles like "A Star is Born Again" and "A Star is Torn". | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 10:48, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
- Because someone moved them to that title. Most likely this guy. :| ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 10:49, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
- The way I learned it in school was to capitalize "first word, last word, and all important words". Basically, that means to capitalize everything except articles (a, an, the); conjunctions (and, but, or, for example); and prepositions (to, in, on, of, into, etc.). "Is" and "Are" should be capitalized because they are verbs. The reason we have some episode titles that don't fit the pattern is probably because that's just how the titles happened to be done when the episode pages were first made, and up to now we really haven't addressed the topic. So almost certainly there will be some episode titles around with incorrect capitalization, even aside from some random person making changes. -- Mythigator 11:04, 18 May 2012 (EDT)

Wordless stories and Quotes tabs
Got a question/idea and I wanted to see what you thought about it. For wordless stories (for example, a lot of the ones by Sergio Aragonés), there won't be any quotes to put in. However, the Quotes redlinks for those stories are bothersome and look sloppy. What do you think about putting a note on these stories' Quotes tabs, along the lines of "This is a wordless story; as such, it has no quotations."? That way we don't have the redlinks just sitting there, giving the impression that there's supposed to be something under the tab and that we haven't bothered to put it in yet. -- Mythigator 09:23, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
- Instead of doing that, I'll add in a parameter to the tabs to exclude the quotes tab by putting "|quotes=no" or something similar. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 09:25, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
- Excluding the Quotes tabs completely is probably a better solution, but I wasn't sure how feasible it would be. Well, best of luck with the tweak and thanks for yout thoughts. -- Mythigator 09:28, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
- It is done. Resizing the tabs to fill up the blank space would be hard though as we also have a parameter for resizing them if the gags tab is in so there is a blank space where the Quotes tab was. All you have to do is put "|quotes=no" in the tab templates. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 09:30, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
- I gave it a try with Ralph's Room 1, and it's not quite there. If you use the parameter to turn off the Quotes tab, the text all ends up center-aligned. -- Mythigator 08:47, 10 May 2012 (EDT)
- I saw where I went wrong. Fixed now, and should be fine for other tabs (just checked on appearances to make sure). ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 10:17, 10 May 2012 (EDT)
- It looks good and works fine now. The pages involved look just a little odd when they're missing the Quotes tab, but I much prefer that look to having a Quotes redlink just sitting there. Besides, the pages' looking a little different may entice a random wandering surfer to stick around and check out the wiki some more. -- Mythigator 08:40, 11 May 2012 (EDT)
- I fixed the length earlier so the tabs fill up the most of the page. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 10:35, 11 May 2012 (EDT)

Re:Marcia Wallace
But Marcia Wallace is the guest star for the episode Ned 'N Edna's Blend from the season 23. --AnthonySimpsons 14:52, 11 May 2012 (EDT)
- Firstly, please reply on the talk page I left the message. Marcia Wallace has been credited as a guest star for over 150 episodes. If we were to add her to every template and page, it would be kind of pointless. We don't treat her as a guest star here for that reason. In fact, I'm still wondering why they don't just credit her as Also starring by now... (Talk - Contribs.) 15:26, 11 May 2012 (EDT)
Sitenotice error
I have know idea why, maybe it's for reasons I'm unaware of, but, occasionally, a link on the sitenotice is bold. Why is this? Thank you. --Fred (Talk • Contribs. • Editcount) 06:41, 12 May 2012 (EDT)
- I have no idea why this happens but it sorts itself out every time. It seems to happen to me more often when I've recently visited the page in question so it could be some sort of weird cache thing. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 06:42, 12 May 2012 (EDT)
- Like I said on your talk page, Frederick, I've encountered this error as well before. It usually happens after you have visited that page. It would probably be best to contact Jake about that. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 06:43, 12 May 2012 (EDT)
No image
I think we should user File:No image.png over File:Blank.png. It looks much better on the page, and it shows that there is purposely no image there.--Cook879 19:02, 12 May 2012 (EDT)
- I generally use No Image for when there is an image available but no one's uploaded it yet. Blank I use to show there is no image available, i.e. the subject was only mentioned. Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 04:55, 13 May 2012 (EDT)

Editing
Hi Solar. I see some editing on the Shoutwiki hub, but the database still seems locked. Will editing be back soon?--Orange Ice 21:22, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
- Yep, staff are able to edit now. We're testing out our features, such as CreateWiki, and tying to get them to work (having a few problems with CreateWiki right now though :S). Once all the problems are sorted out, editing will be open again :). ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 02:47, 19 May 2012 (EDT)
Hi. Do you have an era for when editing will be open, or is that still unknown ? Thanks.--Orange Ice 10:23, 26 May 2012 (EDT)
- Not yet I'm afraid. Still having a few problems with getting everything working again. However, we have upgraded MediaWiki to 1.19 and are just trying to get CreateWiki and a few other things to work first. Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 16:35, 26 May 2012 (EDT)

Song appearances
I was looking at the revision history for Lady Gaga and saw that you left a note about a person's song being heard not counting as an apprearance and that it hadn't been done for any other singer. Well, we apparently did do it once for Barry White. I think it would be easier to just stick with the idea that a song being heard doesn't count as an appearance than it would be to try to add it in for every real-world singer character and episode where it's happened, so I'm going to go ahead and remove that one from Barry White's page. -- Mythigator 14:02, 19 May 2012 (EDT)
- Yep. That's fine by me. If a song is played that is by that singer/band, it can be mentioned on either the real-world page for said singer or band or, if we have an article for them, in the Behind the Laughter section. Look at Queen for an example. (Talk - Contribs.) 14:49, 19 May 2012 (EDT)
- Splendid idea! Done for Barry White's real-world page. -- Mythigator 21:47, 19 May 2012 (EDT)
Music tab
Because of The Ned-liest Catch/Music and The Falcon and the D'ohman/Music, I'm wondering if the wiki should have a music tab. What do you think? ~ Phinbart (talk • contribs) 05:03, 26 May 2012 (EDT)
- Even if we don't have one, we need the improve the pages first. | | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 05:04, 26 May 2012 (EDT)
- Once we have more, sure. Right now, we can hardly do something when, for 506 episodes, it will create a red link.--Cook879 06:56, 26 May 2012 (EDT)
- And also, it can easily fit into production or list of songs. WebkinzMania 07:44, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

Gags
First off, thanks for the Golden Homer!
Second, I won't be able to do the gags page for The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular. I have no idea what to do with all of those images from the other couch gags. o.O
WebkinzMania 07:43, 1 June 2012 (EDT)
- Urm... good point... Just say it's made up of previous gags. We would need to make a list of all the gags eventually so just stick the {{incomplete}} template on the section after. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 07:48, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

Random stuff
We should consider giving this a go while it's free, if they put up English to German. If we're successful then we get free translation from people learning the language. Unfortunately the only English -> other is Spainish right now, they only have German and French translating into English.
Also Wikipedia weren't to happy about my links, and some guy reverted them all - even breaking a link I fixed for another external link >_>.--Cook879 05:12, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
- Hmm... we could give that a go I guess. Also, unlucky. :P ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 07:59, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
- Interesting... I'd be happy to set up a Spanish wiki if you guys want to try this out. :) --Jake 10:13, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
- I don't see a problem in applying. I just wish they had German up, 'cos then we have a potential solution to our lull. Let's hope they add it before they consider charging for the service. Also, random trivia, the guy who made this made the captcha. He realized how long everyone wastes on them so has created recaptcha and now this to try and make amends :P--Cook879 12:04, 20 June 2012 (EDT)

- "The Principal and the Pauper" wins hands down... ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 14:02, 21 June 2012 (EDT)
- Seems you're not the only one who thinks that. Most viewers seem to dislike the episode. But with the Simpsons being rather episodic, you can just forget about any episodes you dislike, and can think of them as non-canon.--Orange Ice 14:05, 21 June 2012 (EDT)
- Yeah, we had long discussions about whether it is non-canon. However, due to Lisa calling Skinner "Armin Tanzarian" in "I, D'oh-Bot", we would have to make that non-canon too. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 14:07, 21 June 2012 (EDT)

Lost Verizon
During the part when Homer sees a Bart-shaped bush and thinks it's Bart, he mentions some trickster god. I was wondering if Simpsons World might have the name in it, so I could get the correct spelling. Also, maybe you could double check the name Incan god. Thanks. :) --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 19:16, 21 June 2012 (EDT)
