- The title is a reference to Lord of the Dance.
- Alex tells Lisa not to be a "Phoebe", a character from Friends played by Lisa Kudrow. Later Alex asks Sherri and Terri which one of them is the evil twin, since Phoebe had an evil twin in Friends.
- Lisa's new look is that of Olivia Newton-John's character in Grease.
- The perfume Alex wears is "Calvin Klein's Pretension," a parody of Calvin Klein's "Obsession."
- Sign seen at the Try-N-Save: "Catch Back-to-Schooliosis!", a play on the medical condition scoliosis.
- A tanker at the grease recycling plant is labeled "Acne Grease Co.", a reference to the Acme Corporation from Looney Tunes. Acne Grease and Shovel is also a reference to the company.
