"Mobile Homer" is the thirteenth episode of The Simpsons' sixteenth season.
Synopsis
Marge takes the kids on a random and pointless Sunday drive but Homer gets out of it by cleaning the garage. Homer however barely does anything and tries to kill the spiders with spider poison but it instead sprays his face and then Homer tosses a TV guide at the garage door button and closes the door on his face. When Marge and the kids get home Homer is dead as Bart predicted but Lisa luckily revives him. Marge then declares life insurance but Homer is uninsurable. Marge then watches a movie on TV known as "From Homemaker to Homeless" about a rich housewife who becomes poor, insane, and ugly after her husband dies of a stroke and she has no life insurance and is later sent to Harvard Medical School... as a cadaver which is based on a true story. Marge then gets a nest egg to pay for Homer's insurance and buys imitation brands of cereal, soup, coffee, forces Bart and Lisa to wear church charity clothing to school, and has Homer bring his own drinks to Moe's Tavern. Homer is then kicked out for bringing an outside drink and decides since the nest egg is making his life miserable he should purchase something cool. Homer then buys a fully loaded RV which he has the kids living in as well.

Trivia
- Cowboy Bob and his Bob's RV Round-Up, from "The Call of the Simpsons", return; however, Cowboy Bob was not voiced by Albert Brooks this time. Also returning is the Merry Widow Insurance Company from "Homer's Triple Bypass".
- The first of two episodes this season to make a home-Homer pun.
- In the Spanish (from Spain) dubbed version, when Lisa reads Homer's Flinstones map, she says, "Dino, abreviatura de dinosaurio; consultarlo en la Wikipedia" (Dino, abbreviation of Dinosaur; search for it in Wikipedia). In the original English, she said "Dino, short for Dinosaur? Remember to Ask Jeeves"
- Among the vacation disasters: Homer impaled by a baquette in France, Homer being punched by [[Mickey Mouse and Goofy, and Homer stuck up Lincoln's nose on Mount Rushmore.
- This is the third time that Welcome to the jungle was on The Simpsons. First in Marge on the Lam, second in Eight Misbehavin'. Making it the most played song in pop culture on The Simpsons.
- Homer already owned an RV in The Call of the Simpsons
Cultural References
- Songs in this episode: "Vacation" by The Go-Gos, "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses, "I've Been Everywhere" by Johnny Cash, and "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" by They Might Be Giants.
- The spider poison is called "Charlotte's Dead", an obvious parody of the childrens book Charlotte's Web.
