History[edit]

Mr. Bergstrom read Charlotte's Web for Lisa's class. When he did, he and Lisa started to cry. When Lisa told her family that Bergstrom had read Charlotte's Web and cried at the end, it caused Homer to laugh about a book making someone cry.[1]

Nelson saw when Dr. Hibbert read Charlotte's Web and took a copy of it, placing it in his mother's hand while she slept and pretending that she had read it to him.[2]

Smithers read Charlotte's Web to Mr. Burns and Plopper when they were in bed.[3]

Lisa read the novel to her class.[4]

In a dream Homer had, young Dolph said that he had three tear tattoos below his eye to symbolize all the times he had cried. Young Kearney told Dolph that he told him not to read Charlotte's Web. Dolph asked how he was supposed to know that spiders had such short lifespans. Dolph and Kearney then fought, with Dolph telling Kearney to keep Charlotte's name out of his mouth.[5]
