When [[Homer]] buys the [[Duff Book of World Records]] he bores everyone with his world record trivia. He then decides to break a record himself. He gathers the entire town to help him and they build the world's tallest human pyramid. Just before the record is claimed, [[Jimbo]] and [[Kearney]] move the hands, the pyramid collapses into a giant sphere. The town's people then roll to a truck wrighing station and the Duff world record officials say that Springfield is the world's fattest town.

She complains to [[Garth Motherloving]], who owns the ''Motherloving Sweets and Sugar Company ''. After speaking to Garth, Marge decides to sue the sugar industry. After unsuccessfully being bribed by Garth (with a box of chocolates), [[Judge Roy Snyder]] sides with Marge and bans sugar; enraging Homer and most of the town.

Furious, she decides to go up to the Motherloving Sugar Corp.'s Headquarters to lodge her complaint after she finds out that every single food item sold in the town is packed with sugar. The owner, [[Garth Motherloving]], ends up being less than cooperative, so Marge decides to file a class action lawsuit. [[Professor Frink]] blows the whistle on "big sugar" and the court rules in Marge's favor and then bans all sugar from [[Springfield]] forever. All the town's sugar products are burned and [[Apu]]'s store shelves are empty. Apu brings Homer into a group determined to smuggle sugar back into Springfield. Homer and [[Bart]] join with Apu, [[Mr. Burns]], [[Count Fudgula]] and Garth Mothelovering in a scheme to smuggle in sugar from the island of [[San Glucose]]. They get the sugar (for free because of a badly written contract) and make it into [[Springfield Harbor]], but are intercepted by the police. Evading Wiggum and Co., Homer finds himself faced with the decision to either "Dump Cargo" to make Marge happy or "Obey Bad Guy" and bring sugar to Springfield. He chooses the former, dumping all of the sugar into the ocean. The town soon realizes his action and takes advantage of the opportunity by jumping into the ocean and drinking the sugared water. [[Judge Snyder]] then realizes that he's overstepped his authority and makes sugar legal in Springfield once again.
  
[[Chief Wiggum]] burns all of the sugary products (except the butterfingers "Even the fire doesnt want them.") and the whole town goes crazy. Apu shows Homer a secret orgranisation of people trying to smuggle sugar into [[Springfield]]. The head of it is Garth Motherloving. When they arrive back in [[Springfield]], a police boat chases the sugar loaded boat but the sugar smugglers escape. Homer dumps the sugar into the water and the people of Springfield jump into the water. Judge Snyder realises that he vastly exceeded his power in the ban and repels it.
