Synopsis[edit]
- "Lisa has a blazing misadventure in the dark world of Capital City's downtown art scene."
Plot[edit]
The Simpson family, Patty, and Selma arrive at the Springfield Train Station, and Marge and Lisa fight to get through the entrance door, which Bart tells the sisters they have been doing for some time. Homer explains how Marge pointed out they should send Lisa to Capital City with Patty and Selma for the weekend. After giving her a snack and a juice, Lisa departs with them and arrives in the city.
Their first stop is the Laramie Cigarettes Smokehouse Grill, where Patty and Selma eat until they are full and are ironically denied the chance to smoke inside. When they go outside to smoke, they meet Julian, an old friend of Patty, and his artist friends. After some conversation, they invite Lisa to their party, but Patty and Selma refuse to take her, succumbing to a stomach ache and heading to their hotel, where they promptly vomit out their lunch.
Julian texts them that they are outside the hotel, and Lisa sneaks out to join him. They arrive at Nohosogoblojoto, where the party is full of artists, and Lisa feels like she is home. They then have to take everything to the Museum of Loft-Based Transgressive Progressivism, so Lisa starts to help but is denied assistance from The Inhuman Capotes. Once they arrive at the museum and deposit everything, they invite Lisa to the next event at 1 AM, and she agrees, leaving Patty and Selma to sleep.
Before meeting them, Lisa encounters Chalmers, who is having a night with Lunchlady Dora at a nearby hotel. They go to watch the Roach play at a theater, and Lisa interrupts the performance when the father keeps throwing apples at the son, who has transformed into a cockroach. The writer, Tracy Letts, appears, congratulating Lisa for her intervention in changing the story. For that, they propose that she enter the Horace Frick Academy, but Lisa doesn't have the money to pay for it. Julian suggests asking Lacey Van Aster for help, and at her home, Lacey agrees.
Just as she is getting into bed, she notices a picture of them with Martin Prince, and then they enter her room to tell her that it was just a scam to get money from Lacey, just like they did with Martin. To avoid being reported to the police, they show her that they sent the artists in town a video of her "stealing" a piece of art instead of just moving it. However, she manages to escape them with the check.
A crowd of artists follows her to the museum, where they create various paintings and artworks depicting her as a thief. She manages to reach an alley and calls her family at home, but they don't answer because they are watching a documentary on ringtones. She then meets Chalmers, who is meeting Ms. Hoover this time, and they help her hide in their room. She starts telling them what happened when Dora storms the room after discovering the other date. Chalmers escapes through the window, gets on a rented bike, and rides it into the lake, leaving Lisa in trouble again.
She starts running from them but manages to hide near a wall. Tired of running, she throws the bag on the ground, causing a juice box to fall out. She drinks it to refresh herself, and Marge at home senses what she has done. She insults them and runs away. The morning comes, but they reach her at the park where the parade is scheduled to take place that day. She hides beneath a balloon but accidentally hits the inflation machine and gets found. However, when Julian insults Katya for pointing out that Lisa ripped up the check, she cuts the rope holding the balloon, setting herself free.
She rides back to Springfield while talking to the balloon, a hallucination from not sleeping for 24 hours. Upon arriving at school, she walks in, salutes Martin with the hat they gave her, and meets Chalmers, who is still dealing with the aftermath of his night with the woman. In the end, in class, Ms. Hoover has Lisa and her classmates read from the book The Firecracker Who Didn't Want to Go Boom.
