- The sign seen at the Try-N-Save, "Catch Back-to-Schooliosis!", is a play on the medical condition scoliosis.
- Krusty's Speak and Say says the word Yiddish word "shiksa", which is mostly used in the North American Jewish culture to refer to a person who is not Jewish.
- Homer usually buys the real-word magazine Success.
