- The "welcome to the neighborhood" package that Marge presents to Ruth includes a porno movie called Das Butt, a pun on Das Boot.
- When Sylvia Winfield tells Homer to cover his garbage, a moose is revealed to be eating from it, making a reference to opening sequence of Northern Exposure.
