Homer's Hunting Club is a hunting club that Homer briefly operated after Moe redesigned his tavern.
Formation[edit]
After Moe made his bar over with a post-modern look (alienating his regular customers), Homer decided to serve drinks in his garage. After consulting a law book, Homer founded the hunting club in order to make it legal. When Moe told Homer it was illegal to run a bar in a private residence, Homer said that he was not running a bar, but a hunting club. He then read Moe the citation from the law book stating that a hunting club was permitted by state law "to serve beverages of a refreshing nature".Members[edit]
The hunting club members were patrons of Moe's Tavern who left after the post-modern makeover:
- Homer Simpson - founder
- Lenny Leonard
- Carl Carlson
- Barney Gumble
Club Bar[edit]
The hunting club had a bar in Homer's garage. The bar consisted of a desk on the right side and a urinal nailed to the wall at the back of the garage, with an arcade game located next to it. Homer said that it was his bar, even though he did almost no work in running it and just sat and drank with his friends while Marge did the actual bartending. Homer also put Lisa and Bart to work in the bar, making Bart wash dishes and Lisa cut lemons that he never even used.Homer had the rock band R.E.M. in to perform at his bar, after tricking them into thinking that he and his friends were billionaires. R.E.M. quit and walked out, however, when they realized that Homer's bar was a hunting club.
Hunting Trip[edit]
Homer's Hunting Club only went hunting once. Moe consulted the very same law book that Homer had read, and quoted Homer a regulation which stated that a hunting club must engage in the sport of hunting. Homer was thus forced to take the club on a hunt in order to keep his operation legal. Because it was close to Thanksgiving, he decided to go hunting for a turkey.
Strategies[edit]
Homer's first strategy for getting a turkey was simply putting down a plate filled with potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce, expecting the turkey to just walk onto the plate. Lisa asked him, "Do you really think the turkey is just going to get on the plate?" to which Homer replied, "I would."
Homer's second strategy was to crawl around the woods, sniper-style, until he found a turkey. This almost worked as he found a turkey and was just about to shoot it, but Moe scared it away using a cougar call.
Dissolution[edit]
Homer accidentally shot Moe during the turkey hunt, but the two of them made up during the incident and became friends again. Moe undid his bar's post-modern makeover and went back to the old look. Homer and his friends then returned to drinking at Moe's, ending the hunting club.
