The Sno-Bliterator is a The Simpsons Winter Wingding story first printed in The Simpsons Winter Wingding #5.
Synopsis[edit]
- When Springfield Elementary gets a new modified school bus that can get the students to school no matter how much snow is on the roads, Bart, Milhouse, and Nelson work together to bring snow days back.
Plot[edit]
Principal Skinner presents The Sno-Bliterator to the students by having Otto drive it through a fake snowman. He tells the students that the new bus will be able to get them to school no matter how much snow is on the roads, eliminating snow days forever. Bart doesn't think the new bus will be able to get them to school anyway, despite Otto telling him that snow days are now a thing of the past. Bart still doesn't believe it and decides to sleep in the next day.
Bart wakes up two hours later than usual and sees the Sno-Bliterator outside the house, picking Lisa up. Bart rushes downstairs to Homer and Marge to ask them to take him to school since Skinner said that anybody who misses school thinking it would be a snow day would get a month's worth of detention. However, Homer and Marge can't take him because their cars won't be able to drive through the snow. Bart instead has to take a sled to school. Four hours later, Bart arrives, but Willie catches him. Willie tells Bart that he won't tell Skinner as long as Bart helps clean up the mess he made coming in. However, the bell rings, and Bart rushes off to join the crowd. He then bumps into Skinner coming out of the toilets, who then gives Bart detention for missing the first half of school.
In class, Bart, Milhouse, and Nelson discuss the Sno-Bliterator and decide to sabotage it so they can get snow days back. Mrs. Krabappel is still in class as they discuss their plans, but agrees not to tell on them since teachers enjoy snow days more than kids. After Otto leaves the bus that evening, the kids sneak onboard and prepare to sabotage the bus. However, it is designed like a normal bus, so there is nothing they can do. They come up with a backup plan, with Milhouse putting gum under the gas pedal, Nelson putting glue on the steering wheel, and Bart pouring Squishee into the engine.
The next day, Otto drives the Sno-Bliterator to school, but Nelson throws a bag of gunk at the windshield. Otto tries to clean it using the wipers, but Squishee comes out instead. Otto then swerves to avoid hitting Milhouse and finds his hands stuck to the wheel. The bus then goes over a frozen lake, with the gas pedal getting stuck. The bus then crashes into Skinner's office, causing damage to the school and the bus. As Superintendent Chalmers shouts at Skinner, the kids celebrate having a snow day after all.
