Cultural references[edit]

  • Names of strip clubs Homer and Bart go to include "Florence of Arabia" (spoofing Lawrence of Arabia) and "Girlesque" (a play on the word "burlesque", a synonym for a strip club), in addition to the names "Foxy Boxing" and "Mud City" (the sign says Close Encounters of the Mud Kind referencing the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind), where Homer meets Princess Kashmir.
  • Homer mentions Fred Flintstone in this episode.

Trivia[edit]

  • In this episode, Homer weighs 239 lbs.
  • First appearance of Lenny and Carl. However, both Carl and Lenny's voices sound different in this episode. In fact, the characters traded voice actors: Carl was voiced by Harry Shearer and Lenny was voiced by Hank Azaria.
  • Princess Kashmir is also known as April Flowers, but her real name is Shauna Tifton.
  • Princess Kashmir is seen again in "Lisa's Pony", where she is dating Apu.
  • The copier's price is 5 cents on a sign, but 10 cents next to the coin slot, and Milhouse actually puts a penny in.
  • When showing Barney his house, Homer says that someone must have left the porch light on, but the Simpson family doesn't even have a porch.
  • When Homer and Barney are looking out Barney's home's window, the lights of the city is similar to the shape of Marge's angry face.
  • This is one of the few times that Homer ends up being strangled for doing something stupid or bad (something he usually does with Bart). He is strangled by Marge, who even paraphrases his remark before strangling Bart (Marge: Why you big... (strangles Homer).). Ironically, she does this just as Homer is about to strangle Bart.
  • Although later episodes have hints at Martin Prince being gay, this episode clearly showed him having an attraction to Princess Kashmir in Bart's photo, implying either that he was originally considered to be straight, or that he might actually be bisexual.
  • This is the second episode to have Homer's name somewhere in the title.

Goofs[edit]

  • When Marge is saying "He's having a boys' night out", and the scene fades into the one at the stag party, Marge's teeth clench after saying "Boys" and stay that way until the scene fades completely into the next one. In a way, Marge says "Night out" with her teeth together. It is possible to do that, but if Marge actually did that, her voice would have changed slightly.
  • Another scene fading error is when someone pours beer into Homer's mug. When the scene fades completely into that scene, the color of the beer changes to a darker brown.
  • When Princess Kashmir talks to Homer and laughs at the bachelor party, her mouth doesn't move.
  • Also, during the scene, a man next to Charlie has changed his appearance slightly from a few shots before. His shirt has changed from blue to white, and his cigar he was tapping on the table to put out has disappeared.
  • Carl and Lenny's voices are different to what they are further in the series. One error is that in one scene Carl has a different voice to what voice he had in a scene earlier. And in that earlier scene, Carl had a voice similar to Ned Flanders'. Also, in that scene, Lenny has Moe Szyslak's voice. And then the next time Lenny speaks, his voice is different again.
  • Bart ticks the four boxes for "Poor" on the "Rate Out Service" sheet, but he marked five boxes (and the "poor" word) with red pen, not black.
  • Also, in the scene when Marge talks to the Rusty Barnacle employee, there are bars behind Marge, so they can see through to the other booth. That booth is now empty, despite when the camera zoomed in on that row of booths there was a man in the one behind the Simpsons' (possibly listening to an unseen woman who was talking on the other side of the booth, and the seats blocked any view of the other booth.
  • In the scene when the Rusty Barnacle employee enters the room in which the stag party is in, someone talking to Lenny has appeared at the party and was not there in scenes before. In future scenes, a couple of new people appear throughout them. Also, in that scene, Homer is much fatter than usual.
  • The Simpsons' meals are cooked rather quickly.
  • When someone says "Presenting", no-one is, and in the next shot it is revealed that Lenny is saying that. Also, Lenny's mouth is not in sync with the audio and his mouth stops saying "Princess" about 1 second after the audio stopped saying it. Also, "Kashmir" is said, and Lenny's mouth is still out of sync.
  • When one man is "Woo"ing Princess Kashmir, he is mouthing the words faster than humanly possible.
  • Princess Kashmir is spinning around, however in the next shot, she is swaying side-to-side.
  • When Homer says "Look at him squirm", he is behind a speaker. In the next shot, he is not, and a mug of beer has magically appeared in his hands.
  • Kashmir says "Care to dance?" and her mouth doesn't open.
  • When Carl pushes Homer onto the table, in the shot before the table is next to him. In this shot, the table has magically appeared before him. Also, Carl's mouth is formed like it shouldn't be when he says "er" (the end of the word "Homer").
  • When Bart comes into the room, dollar bills have appeared in Kashmir's undergarment that were not there in the scene before. Homer must have put them in during the scene change.
  • Bart says "Aye Cararumba" instead of "Aye Carumba", and says it in a deeper voice.
  • The picture of Homer and Kashmir dancing that Bart took has got the men who were at the stag part in the background.
  • When Martin is talking, the room is "red". In the next scene, the "red" is not as bright.
  • Also, when the three kids are clapping at Bart, for some reason they are 'wavy'.
  • When the picture in the dark room develops, all of Kashmir's dress is in the picture - all of it wasn't in the original photo. But when Bart looks at it, part of Kashmir's dress has now disappeared from the picture.
  • And in the next scene when Martin asks Bart "Who's the sexy lady", the tone of red in the room has gone up. And when everyone "Wows", the tone has gone darker again
  • In the shot where Bart points to Homer in the picture, Kashmir's dress is overlapping the border of the picture. The dress has returned to normal the next time the photo is seen.
  • A kid is looking at the photo, and in the next shot, the line with the photos on has rose up a little.
Eye lids not fully colored
  • When Homer is giving his final speech, his eyes lids are not fully colored.
  • The copier's price is 5 cents on a sign, but 10 cents next to the coin slot, and Milhouse actually puts a penny in.
    • This is acknowledged on the episodes commentary track as having been intentional.
  • One brown kid gets a copy of the photo, but after school when his father asks him why he is wasting his time with a "sleazy piece of garbage", he (and his father) are yellow.
  • When Bart puts money into the photocopier, it is clearly reused footage of Milhouse putting money into the machine.
  • In the next scene, Lewis hands a copy of the photo to Richard; however, Richard is drawn very off model.
