Throghout the show you see people putting up signs to vote to deport the immigrants, like at Moe's.When homer goes to talk to Apu, Apu tells him that he is an illegal immigrant. Apu decides he despratley does not want to be deported so he gets a fake united states citizenship card. After trying to act like an American for one day Apu decides he has to get American Citezenship the fair way because of a memory of his Mother and Father telling him always to be himself. He decides to take the United States Citizenship test. Homer takes him home and gives him his 9th grade history notes. As Apu studies throughout the night he gets tired and accidentally falls asleep. When Apu wakes up he realizes he fell asleep and did not study. As he starts to panic Lisa steps in and helps him. You then see him taking the test along with (Dr.Nick, Bummble Bee man, Willie, and Moe which is funny because throughout the episode he was being mean to immigrants.) Apu passes and The Simpsons throw him a party congragulating him on becoming an American. At the very end of the episode you see Willie on a ship being deported and saying "Oh!Crap!". |

Synposis

California references
In the commentary you Bill oakley tells us that one of the reasons they started the episode with a bear because at the time California had a problem when some bears would rome neighberhoods in search of food. another refrence to California in this episode is California at the time, had a problem with so many illegal immigrannts. They even threatend to take away all medicare from immigrants. This is one reason they made this episode at the current time.
