- The first scene right after the opening is a parody of The Jetsons:
- Homer as George Jetson.
- Bart as Elroy Jetson.
- Lisa as Judy Jetson.
- Marge as Jane Jetson.
- Bender from Futurama also appears at the end of that scene.
- Laramie Jr. is a reference to Laramie Cigarettes
- Lenny is glad that Moe has the opportunity to attend a Laney Fontaine show. He says she is funny and full of Hollywood stories, and gives the example of Jimmy Stewart being a "super-nice guy". Stewart was famous for many "nice-guy" characters he played in many movies.
- Laney Fontaine sings a slightly modified version of "If This Isn't Love" written by E. Y. Harburg. She also finds Moe attractive and compares him with American actor Patrick Swayze, who was named by People magazine as the "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1991.
