- Richard Branson is Mr. Burns neighbor. His house has the Virgin Group logo everywhere.
- Homer and Princess Kemi stay at Four Seasons, a well known hotel chain.
- Princess Kemi wants to go out instead of staying at the hotel and Homer mentions that famous American nightclubs Studio 54, CBGB and Roxbury are all already gone.
- Homer makes Princess Kemi watch The Bachelor, a real reality TV show.
- Kemi asks Moe whether he is familiar with Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe, and she also mentions two of his novels Things Fall Apart and No Longer at Ease.
- Moe's "goodnights" to the things in his bar is a reference to the children's book Goodnight Moon.
- The song "Eni Binu Wa" by Nigerian artist King Sunny Adé can be heard when Moe and Princess Kimi spend time together around Springfield. Another of his songs, "Sunny Koni Ku" is heard during the credits.
- Moe was not able to show Kemi the place where Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl got mugged.
- Paparazzo Enrico Irritazio sends the picture of Kemi kissing Moe to real-life websites Defamer.com, PerezHilton.com and Jezebel.
- Princess Kemi compared the moment when she kissed Moe in the forehead to the moment when Snow White kissed Dopey.
- Before leaving Springfield, Kemi gives Moe some Nigerian books:
- Richard Branson steps at Mr. Burns door and ask him to participate in Virgin Earth Challenge, a real-world competition with the objective of eliminating greenhouse gases. In an attempt to get rid of Branson, Mr. Burns tries to release the hounds. The dogs never appear and Branson tells Burns that they are on a free Virgin Galactic flight around the world.
