Cultural references
- The title of the episode is a reference to the film All About Eve.
- "Hooray For Hollywood" by Richard A. Whiting is heard at the 38th annual Springfield Showbiz Awards.
- Krusty's Krusketeers are a reference to the Mouseketeers from Disney's The Mickey Mouse Club.
- In the Krusketeers auditions, Ralph is seen eating Twizzlers candies.
- According to Krusty, a great man once said that "90% of success is showing up on time". This is a reference to a phrase by Woody Allen, who said "Showing up is 80% of life".
- In his audition for Krusketeer, Nelson punches Database, E-mail, Cosine and Martin and they shout out "Ow!" in various tones, much like Marvin Suggs does with his "Muppaphone" on The Muppet Show.
- Bart eats a lantern and pretends to be E.T. from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Just after that, he puts on an afro wig and says to be "B.E.T.". This is a reference to the Black Entertainment Television (BET), an American cable television channel targeting African American audiences, in where the afro hairstyle was particularly popular during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
- Lisa mentions Discovery Channel, and says they do not have a single employee.
- When Mel mentions the good and bad people in the entertainment business, he mentions the comedy duo Abbott and Costello.
- Krusty wants Lisa to edit his joke file and "change all the Sophia Lorens into Lindsay Lohans". Both Loren and Lohan have served short prison sentences.
- When Lisa asks Krusty if he wanted her to do a "global change", Krusty says he was not Al Gore. This is a reference to Al Gore seeking of global climate change.
- Nelson is dressed in 1980s clothes and parodies the bucket of water scene from Flashdance.
- Mel warns Lisa about Krusty always mentioning American actress Mitzi Gaynor.
- Bart knows several things about Krusty, including:
- His favourite blintz, a popular Jewish pancake, is with blueberry.
- His favourite racehorse in the 2004 Belmont Stakes was Smarty Jones. In 2004, Smarty Jones won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, but ended in second place in the Belmont Stakes, making Krusty to lose a lot of money.
- The comic book Radioactive Man vs. Muhammad Ali that Bart wants to trade for his Krusty merchandise is a parody of the 1978 comic book Superman vs. Muhammad Ali.
- Krusty starts calling Lisa "The Goy Wonder", a reference to Robin's alias "The Boy Wonder".

- Lurleen Lumpkin can be seen with the group of celebrities wearing a purple dress when Lisa sets Krusty up for laughs.
- The show Krusty hosts is called Last Gasp with Krusty the Clown.
- Gabbo, a ventriloquist dummy who has appeared a few times in the series, makes a short appearance.
- "Krusty Klovnen Baby Visker" is real Norwegian for "Krusty the Clown Baby Wipes".
- The scene where Krusty says he made out with a blow up doll on the closed captions says "I once made out with Brett Butler".
Goofs
- Early in the episode, the front of Krusty's studio is "Stage 1" with a Krusty logo. Later though, the front says "The Krusty the Clown Show" with a Krusty logo.
- When it paused first at the award ceremony, Homer is seen opening a champagne bottle next to Lenny, but later when it resumes Homer is seen clapping.
