Cultural references
- The episode's title is a play on John Sayles' movie The Brother from Another Planet. The Simpsons has previously spoofed this title with the episode title "Brother from Another Series" and "Brother from the Same Planet".
- Calvin refers to the Star Trek episode "The Conscience of the King" when he mentions that one guy from Star Trek said "felicitous greetings on this day to you".
