Cultural references

  • The title could be a reference to the movie To Sir, with Love, or the 1963 James Bond film, From Russia with Love.
  • The song played on the beginning of the episode is "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha. It is part of the "Fox Rocks" promotion, a week of music themed episodes in different TV shows on the FOX Channel.[1]
  • The Channel 6 News name for the explosion of Homer's bag, "Chattanuclear-Choo-Choo" is a reference to the Glenn Miller song Chattanooga Choo Choo.
  • The company that installs the city-wide camera system is called "Orwell Security", a reference to George Orwell and his novel 1984, about a dictatorial government that maintained control over the population by keeping everyone under surveillance.
  • During the video where Nigel Bakerbutcher shows the video surveillance network he previously set up in London:
    • Mary Poppins (from the film of the same title) is seen using her umbrella to gently descend to the ground, accompanied by music from the film.
    • After she lands, she sheds her human disguise, revealing herself to really be a camera-equipped robot endoskeleton that resembles the Terminator.
  • Mr. Burns' line "Ooh, that's a bingo" could be a reference to Hans Landa's same line in the movie Inglourious Basterds.

Trivia

Goofs

  • Lisa says Bart is blonde as well as her, but in "No Loan Again, Naturally", Lisa clearly saw Bart's hair in its natural red. However, Bart stated that his hair bleached out in the sun when he went outside.
  • When Chief Wiggum sees Edna Krabappel sunbathing, he changes all the monitors to the footage of her. However, Lou then points out that one of the security camera is on him, on the same screen in which we saw Krabappel sunbathing.
