Cape Fear is a town in Springfield's State.
History
When Sideshow Bob was paroled from prison, stalked Bart, and threatened to kill him, Cape Fear was one of four locations the Witness Relocation Program considered as options for protecting the Simpsons by moving them and giving them new identities. The other possible locations were Terror Lake, New Horrorfield, and Screamville. The Simpsons moved to Terror Lake.
Trivia
- The name of the town is a reference to the title of the episode and to the 1962 suspense film Cape Fear.
- Irony: Towns with scary-sounding names being suggested as relocation options for the Simpsons so they can stop living in fear of Sideshow Bob.
- Despite the episode being called "Cape Feare", the Simpsons move to Terror Lake instead.
