South Dakota is one of the 50 states in the US. Its capital city is Pierre and its largest city is Sioux Falls.

History[edit]

Miss South Dakota was a contestant in the Miss American Girl Pageant.[1]

After getting run out of Florida, the Simpson family was trying to decide on where to go for their next vacation. They were looking at a map of the US that had most of states crossed out, which were apparently all the states that the Simpsons were no longer allowed to enter.[2]

While driving Bart to a disciplinary camp in Oregon, Homer passes a sign that reads "Mount Rushmore - 20 feet out of your way!"[3]

Bart asks Homer "If a plane crashes on the border of North and South Dakota, where do you bury the survivors?" Homer guesses Minnesota, but Bart says he is wrong because you can't bury survivors.[4]
