Plot[edit]
Bart tells Lisa that he found a comic with the family in, and they decide to show it to Homer, showing him a comic where he becomes a giant. Marge asks the kids to not worry about it any more and drives them out of the room. They meet Rod and Todd Flanders, and they show Bart and Lisa their favorite comic, which is about Noah's ark. When Ned comes and wants them to play anthem karaoke, they run away to the comic book store where Comic Book Guy tells them that Bongo Comics paid the mayor for the right to write comic books about the Springfield. When Bart tries to ask him why he had never seen the comics before he drives them out of the store, as he is in a hurry to get to the Springfield Comic-Con and gives them two issues: Don't Cry for Me, Jebediah! and Be-bop-a-Lisa.
They then meet Lindsay Naegle, who finds out that they're collect the comics, and gives them comic adverts Catch of the Day, I Will Send You Prizes Like These, KrustyCo Presents: Dartin' Around, and Duff Daddy!. Bart and Lisa continue their search for comic books and see that a Simpsons Comic is on sale at Herman's Military Antiques, White-Knuckled War Stories: Spare the Rod, Spoil the Grunt!, which they read. Herman Hermann tells them that he made the comic, but when he asks them if they want to see his stub, they go away. Bart and Lisa take a break and visit the Kwik-E-Mart, where they can find more comics (Lisa Goes to Camp and Homer vs. the Wallpaper). Apu sees that Bart and Lisa are interested in the comics and shows his favorite comic book to them: The Nuclear Power Man and Iron Foot. Krusty comes into the store and shows Bart and Lisa that he also participates in the comics, showing them Laughter is the Worst Medicine and Bart Simpson and the Krusty Brand Fun Factory.
Bart and Lisa go to Springfield Comic-Con, where Milhouse tells them how he got a Bart mask. In the queue, the geeks start arguing about which is the best Bongo fantasty comic, debating between Greek to Me and Lisa Simpson's Book Club, and they let Bart and Lisa decide. Professor Frink interrupts and says that When Bongos Collide! is the best. They come in at the fair where they can find more comics featuring themselves, and it's comics about history - the Slobberwacky and Julius Caesar. They discover that Sergio Aragonés is also at the fair and he draws a sketch of what he had seen to them, letting them discover that Smithers bought one comic book with the Simpsons in. They meet him by the trash and he says that he threw the comics in the trash as he was only interested in the front comic. They go through the trash to looking for the comics that Smithers threw away and they find stories with Mr. Burns (The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth, In Burn$ We Tru$t and The Bogey Man).
Chief Wiggum wonders what they are doing in the garbage and he tells them about when he captured El Barto in a comic. They leave the garbage and sees that Marge runs with comics in her hands and they chase her to a cave with thousands of comic books. Marge, Luann and Agnes tell them that they collect their children's comic books to keep them in mint condition and then sell at a high price. They tell Bart and Lisa that this is common throughout the world. Marge tells them that she buys all the Simpsons Comics in town because she thinks that her butt is too big, that is why Bart and Lisa have never seen the comic books. She gives Bart and Lisa a few comic books to get them to keep quiet about what they learned and the family goes home, and then they fall over a cliff.
