Synopsis[edit]
- "Lisa travels back in time to 1923 and discovers that the Springfield Mini Moose, once key to the town's ecosystem, were driven to extinction in 1925. Teaming up with young Monty Burns, Lisa works to save the moose, but her actions unintentionally shape his future as a ruthless tycoon."
Plot[edit]
In an alternate reality, all plant life seems to be gone, and Lisa and other environmentalists try to find a place where something would grow. They meet at a road where a daisy has grown, but Mr. Burns intervenes and breaks it because he decides what grows on the land he owns. Lisa grows depressed about it, and a therapist, Dr. Chaplet, takes her to Aubrey Medical Plaza. There, she proposes Lisa use EMDR stimulators and tappers, which take her mind back to 1923.
There, she is in the body of Edith and is invited to play her sax at the Little Moose Club. Suddenly, they invite Mr. Burns to sing, showing him as young and beloved. Later, outside, she asks why it is called the Little Moose Club, and they explain that it is named after the Springfield Mini Moose and that people have decided they need to be hunted. Once a moose sends dust on her, she sneezes and wakes up from the dream. The therapist suggests keeping a journal of her dreams.
Back at home, she discovers that the places she dreamed about existed and that Edith was her great-grandmother. She then goes to the place where the club was (now Moe's Tavern) and sees that what she drew in the past with Mr. Burns was real. She then goes to Professor Frink to talk about what happened to her. Thanks to a video, she discovers that the mini moose went extinct in 1925 and that they were the base of the ecosystem. Thus, she goes back to 1923 to save them.
She finds Burns in the greenhouse and asks him to help the moose. They create a song to save them and convince people not to kill them and instead create a sanctuary to protect them. However, back in the present, she finds out they went extinct even earlier, in 1923. Marge and Homer arrive at Frink's lab and stop her, confiscating the tappers. She tries to get more from Milhouse, but without success. At home, Bart has stolen them back, allowing her to go back once more.
However, by shouting into a megaphone, she scares the moose away, and they go on to destroy all of Mr. Burns' Spilotantha Daphne orchids in the greenhouse, making him so angry that he swears he will pave the town and destroy the ecosystem. Thus, she was the cause of the future she tried to save, turning Burns evil. Back in the present, she goes directly to the source, trying to convince Burns to stop ruining the ecosystem, but to no avail. She decides to go back one more time, knowing what her previous attempts caused.
This time, to make matters worse, Mr. Burns from the present uses the tappers too and convinces his younger self to become what he is, dooming the town forever. Going back home, she reads something next to the drawing in front of Moe's, a message to Edith saying young Burns left something in the basement of the joint where they first met. It was seeds of the flowers, enclosed with baseball cards worth a fortune. Lisa plants them, and one year later, she has recreated an ecosystem, and even Burns is thankful for restoring his mother's flowers.
