Cultural references[edit]
- Ned Flanders tells Rod and Todd that he's not "the man from the potato chip can come to life", a reference to Julius Pringles, the mascot for Pringles.
- Comic Book Guy asks to see a Vulcan Lute, as seen in the Star Trek episode "Charlie X". He then asks to see a Chidinkalu Horn from the Star Wars film Return of the Jedi.
- Lisa sells him an ocarina, which Comic Book Guy assumes has the same magic powers as the ocarina from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
- When Homer mentioned recording songs off the radio with the DJ cursing over them, Marge said that she wondered why "Yellow Submarine" by The Beatles had so many swear words in.
