"Pork and Burns" is the eleventh episode of season 28 of The Simpsons and the six-hundred and seventh episode overall. It originally aired on January 8, 2017. The episode was written by Rob LaZebnik and directed by Matthew Nastuk. It guest stars Joyce Carol Oates as herself and Michael York as Dr. Budgie.

Synopsis[edit]
- "When Marge becomes obsessed with a Japanese style of living, the Simpsons must part with any item that no longer brings them joy. For Homer, this means finding a new home for the family pig. For Lisa, it means saying goodbye to her beloved sax."
Plot[edit]
Several monks were handcrafting the book The Japanese Warrior Monks' Guide to Tidying Up, a book to teach people to reach "the state of entidyment," when they were told that America had ordered a shipment of one million books. When they found this out, all the monks were fired, and robots made the books in a factory instead. When one of the robots was told it had put two front covers on the book, it committed seppuku.
The Simpsons went to the Springfield Car Wash, and Marge bought the book. Homer bought some sushi and ended up in the hospital. The family reunited at home, and Marge made them follow the book's teachings, giving up anything that no longer brought them joy. Lisa gave up some of her Malibu Stacy dolls, Bart claimed all his things gave him joy, and Homer gave up his Mr. Plow jacket.
