A Rail of One City is a questline in The Simpsons: Tapped Out. It was introduced in the Monorail content update.

The questline returned in the Dilapidated Rail Yard content update where it has been reworked slightly. A new part, Pt. 9, was also added to the questline.

Dialogue

Pt. 1

After starting the update This town is filthy! We built all these dumpsters and garbage cans, but no way to empty them. I used to lure in customer with the smell of hot dogs. But the stench of week-old decaying meat… it just can't compete with the smell of all this trash. I used to be able to find my house on account of all the trash piled up in front of it. But now that's every house. I got no idea which one is mine. I've been wandering around on the streets for weeks. We all have, Cletus. We need to build the town dump. Good idea, sweetie. Is there room right next to Flanders' house? Task: "Build Springfield Dump". It takes 6 seconds. Quest reward: 100 and 10

Pt. 2

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark Okay, we've got a place to put our trash. Now we just have to get it there. What about a garbage truck? No. Even if we built one it wouldn't move. What we need are garbage men. According to the government roster that's, er-ah, you. Me? Yes, you're the town's Sanitation Commissioner. I vaguely remember being that but didn't I lose that job, or give it back or something in the end? No, it ended with you destroying the whole town and us having to rebuild it. That DOES sound familiar. Task: "Make Homer Pick Up Trash". The job takes place at Springfield Dump and takes 30 seconds. Quest reward: 100 and 10

Pt. 3

After tapping on Lyle Lanley's exclamation mark Excuse me, good people! But have you ever thought about building a monorail in this town? We have and we did. You sold it to us and it bankrupted our town. Really? Well then, where is it? Nowhere now. The town got destroyed and we had to rebuild it. Twice now apparently! Well maybe I can convince you to buy another, with an elaborate song and dance! Woo-hoo! Not so fast, Sanitation Commissioner. That dump still needs stuff dumped in it. Woo-hoo. Everyone else, join us for the monorail musical! It looks like it might rain, though, so let's do it inside. Task: "Make Lyle Lanley Put on a Musical Extravaganza". The job takes place at the Town Hall or a Brown House and takes 30 seconds. Task: "Make Springfielders Join in the Musical Extravaganza" (x3). The jobs take place at the Town Hall or a Brown House and take 30 seconds. Task: "Make Homer Pick Up Trash". The job takes place at Springfield Dump and takes 30 seconds. That was amazing! The songs, the choreography, all those celebrity cameos… A hologram of Dr. Dre sang a duet with Dr. Dre! Sorry you missed it, Homer. And anyone else who couldn't see inside Town Hall*/Brown House*. Pt. 4

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark It's decided. We'll raise the money to build a monorail! Great, I can help fundraise! I'm really good at getting people to part with their money. Just ask Sky Finger. I suppose you COULD join us. Or… Task: "Make Springfielders Raise Money for the Monorail" (x3). The jobs take place at the Town Hall or a Brown House and take 30 seconds. Task: "Make Homer Pick Up Trash". The job takes place at Springfield Dump and takes 30 seconds. Quest reward: 100 and 10

Pt. 5

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark That's it! This cool monorail story is going on, with people appearing and disappearing, and all I'm doing is picking up trash! If I have to pick up one more rivet- Wait, did you say rivet? Those were on the list of supplies we needed to build the monorail. I bet if we collected enough junk around town, we could get all the supplies we needed for the monorail. So you're saying that picking up trash is now important to the story? Yes, and you're the Sanitation Commissioner. Is there anything we can do in exchange for your help? Yes. Make me the monorail conductor. I'm tired of being a glorified garbage man. I want to be a glorified bus driver! Task: "Gather Junk Around Springfield" (x150). Task: "Make Homer Not Have To Pick Up Trash". Pt. 6

After tapping on Lisa's exclamation mark Now that we've got the materials for the monorail, we just need someone to oversee its construction. Don't look at me. I've already got two jobs. Ahem-glaven… as the closest thing this town has to an engineer, I would be happy to-- Did someone call for an engineer? What? No! I'm the egghead around here. What kind of engineer even are you anyway? A monorail construction engineer. *sigh* Hoyvin. I can get your monorail operational. But first I'm going to need more finely-honed monorail parts. Um… so far we've just been collecting junk. That should work too. Message Hand in resources at the Project Board and help Sebastian Cobb build the Monorail! Task: "Place the Dilapidated Rail Yard". Task: "Gather Junk Around Springfield" (x500). Task: "Trade in Blueprints Until You Unlock the Metal Depo". This is a good start, but additional materials are needed in order to build a safe, reliable Monorail. Message Keep handing in projects to earn more prizes - including Sebastian Cobb and a fully-functional Rail Yard! Quest reward: 100 and 10

It could really improve what we’re doing for the environment. BOO!!! BOO!!! BOO!!! Hmm, the girl does have a point. Separated-out metal could be quickly and easily manufactured into components. And that would save us money. YAY!!! YAY!!! YAY!!! Now that's the kind of green this town can get behind! Whatever. Task: "Place the Metal Depot". It takes 6 seconds. After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark How come every time I test drive the monorail I get bugs in my teeth? Because it doesn't have a windshield. We should probably do something about that. Let's see… batteries are cans full of battery acid. And motor oil is pretty much just liquid plastic. And these glowing radioactive plutonium rods from the nuclear plant are… hmm, let's call them paper. Dad! You can't put that stuff in the recycling. Or the trash, for that matter. Does this mean I'll finally get to be a conductor? I believe I said I would be building a safe, reliable Monorail. Darn. Task: "Recycle Junk at the Glass Depot" (x50). Behind the Laughter

The quest name is a reference to the Charles Dickens novel A Tale of Two Cities.
