Bongo Bonus Stamps[edit]
Since you have the new comics, can you check and upload images of the Bongo Bonus Stamps? Thanks. Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 14:16, 13 February 2012 (EST)
- The picture is already there - http://simpsonswiki.net/wiki/Bongo_Bonus_Stamps /AleWi 14:17, 13 February 2012 (EST)
- I know, but I ment BIGGER images. Also, when you get the new comics every time, can you check for them, take a pic or a scan, and then upload it. I would do it but I've only got Simpsons Illustrated 1 from the US, and I'm waiting to get enough money to buy future issues of Simpsons, Bart and Illustrated. File Upload Limit[edit]
In response to your discussion in today's editor meeting, I have increased the upload limit from 2mb to 5mb. Because the uploads are handled through a regular HTTP connection, it isn't ideal to allow much larger than that because it can cause the server to hold requests while the data is saved and processed on the disk. If you have any files that are larger than 5mb that need to be uploaded, just send me either a link or an email with the image and I can upload it through a maintenance socket. I hope this helps! :) --Jake 22:34, 18 February 2012 (EST)

Good grief, Ale, how many of those articles did you make? I'm not complaining; you did a nice job building them. I'm just surprised because it seems that every time I think I've found them all to spiff them up a little, I find another one. -- Mythigator 00:18, 22 February 2012 (EST)

- Since you've got access to images from that episode, could you build an article for "Psalms"? The book is partly visible in the images in the other articles, and if you can get a good image, it would be good to have the article in the interest of completeness. Thanks again ... -- Mythigator 11:21, 22 February 2012 (EST)

Synopsis and Plot[edit]
Hi Ale, it's perfectly OK for articles about episodes and comic book stories to have both Synopsis and Plot sections. A synopsis is a short summary. The plot is a longer detailed section that gives a thorough description of what happens. If there is already a synopsis written for a story (as in The Last King of Spotland) and you want to work on the plot, it is not necessary to delete or overwrite the synopsis. Just make a new section for the plot. Thank you ... -- Mythigator 15:01, 3 March 2012 (EST)

- Sounds like a reasonable guess to me, actually. I put the {{Engrish}} tag on articles so it will be known that they need work, but I don't get on anyone's case or add any "YELLING AT FELLOW EDITORS!!!!" while I'm at it. Randomno, you really need to "play nice" and follow suit in this regard. Yelling at people in that manner (as you've been told before) could easily be taken as an insult. However good a sport AleWi is being, that doesn't change the facts that 1) the yelling is not nice and 2) you need to knock it off. -- Mythigator 09:28, 8 June 2012 (EDT)

Maggie's Crib article[edit]
Hi again! I noticed you added the table onto the article for the Maggie's Crib story series. I was thinking about doing that, and since you had the idea as well, that means it was a REALLY good idea. Nicely done! Just one thing, though: I think it would make more sense for the table to have synopses (short summaries) than plots for each story, for a few reasons:
- With tables in general, the fewer words you can manage to put on them, the better they look. And it's really easy to make nice short summaries for the Maggie's Crib stories.
- A number of the plots have language issues. The table will look better and more polished with all-done synopses than with plots that need work.
- We want to give people (that is, visitors to the wiki) a reason to click the links to the story articles. They will have more reason to do that if the table only has synopses, instead of the full plots.
I am perfectly willing to write synopses for the stories that don't have them yet. (I had better be willing, since it's my idea.) But I know it took a lot of work to get all those plots onto the table, so I want to make sure you know what's going on so it doesn't look like I'm disrespecting your work. Anyway, is it OK by you if I make that change to the table? Thanks ... -- Mythigator 09:35, 16 June 2012 (EDT)
- Yes, I have thought we should have synopses there and a longer plot in the articles. /AleWi 09:48, 16 June 2012 (EDT)
- I will get going on that then, Ale. Thank you for your quick reply! Also, I would like to work on the older Maggie's Crib stories, and I am going to need help which I think you can provide. Svenska Wikisimpsons[edit]
The Swedish Wikisimpsons should be back online and fully functional. I now have a dedicated server set up to run the sub-wikis, and you should find that performance is just as good, if not better than, the English site. (It uses a better web server than the one used here.) It may take a bit longer to load each page for the first time, but afterwards it should be lightning fast. Once again, sorry it took so long to get this all set up. Let me know if you have any issues loading any area of the site. --Jake 01:06, 9 December 2012 (EST)
- Hey AleWi. Just wanted to let you know that I've done some additional configuration, and the Svenska site should now be even faster than before. If you find any unexpected issues, please let me know. --Jake 22:58, 26 December 2012 (EST)

Galleries[edit]
I was wondering if there can be galleries for the articles as subpages (e.g. Bart the Genius/gallery). In my opinion, that's a good idea. What do you think about this idea? I hope it'll be okay if I do it. Gazlene the Pork Girl 11:30, 23 April 2013 (EDT)
- We use today categories instead of gallery for episodes, (e.g. Category:Images - Bart the Genius). I'm not sure if we should creating gallery page. /AleWi 11:38, 23 April 2013 (EDT)
- Okay, so I expanded The Bart Simpson Show. If you see anything that can be improved, feel free to do so. I think some stuff do need improvement. Gazlene the Pork Girl 12:55, 23 April 2013 (EDT)
- Each episode page, and also comic story, book, etc. should have the Images template on it, {{Images}}. This works like the gallery idea except it doesn't take up another article and images are automatically added to it when the episode is added to the file page (I often go through random images adding episodes to files). ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 13:21, 23 April 2013 (EDT)

Dates and Prepositions[edit]
Hope you don't mind another mini-lesson in English ...
When you want to associate something with a specific date, you use the preposition on: "Bart Simpson #84 will be released on June 26, 2013." "Oregon became a state on February 14, 1859."
If you're not referring to a specific date but to a general time frame, you use the preposition in: "Bart Simpson #85 will be released in July 2013." "Four U.S. states were admitted to the Union in 1889."
Since you're usually the one who first makes articles for upcoming comic issues, I figure that might be helpful. -- Mythigator 08:06, 14 June 2013 (EDT)
Hot Cider in the City image[edit]
Ale, do you have a scan of the first panel of the comic story Hot Cider in the City? Bart is reading a book called Throw Your Voice which needs to have an article. I have the story in the paperback collection Homer for the Holidays and Bart with the book is right near the middle of the page, where it's hard to get a scan from a paperback book. I was thinking that if you already had a good scan of that panel, we could get an image for the book's article without too much extra trouble. Anyway, if you have one, could you please e-mail it to me? Of course, if you want to go ahead and crop it to make an image of just Bart and the book and then upload it, that's fine, too. Tack very much! -- Mythigator 03:48, 27 June 2013 (EDT)

Author image Edit[edit]
Hello AleWi, firstly, forgive me for inserting this in the wrong place, but I can't figure out how to start a new topic. I am trying to change the author image at http://simpsonswiki.com/wiki/File:Gary_Spencer_Millidge.jpg but you keep reverting it. I am the author/artist in question and I am politely requesting that you use the more recent, higher quality image of myself for this wiki. This is the image that Google are 'pulling' for their search results page and I would rather a more flattering one is displayed to the world. I appreciate your consideration. If you wish to contact me privately, my email address can easily be found online. Thanks in advance. Fishmonkeyman (talk) fishmonkeyman
