The Oprah Winfrey Show is an American daytime talk show hosted by Oprah Winfrey that became one of the most influential television programs in the United States. The Simpson family were guests on November 4, 1992.

By 1992, The Simpsons had become a major television phenomenon, and the characters were appearing beyond their regular Fox series through commercials, specials, and promotional events. For The Oprah Winfrey Show, the producers created a special animated segment in which Oprah interviewed the Simpson family as if they were real celebrities. The segment aired on November 4, 1992, and was produced exclusively for Oprah's program.[1][2][3][4]
Plot[edit]
Oprah Winfrey travels to Springfield to visit the Simpson family at their home at 742 Evergreen Terrace. After arriving, she interviews Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie about their lives. The humor comes from treating the dysfunctional Simpson family like a typical talk-show interview. Homer misunderstands Oprah several times, Bart behaves mischievously, Lisa takes the interview seriously, and Maggie participates in a visual joke. The segment ends with Homer repeatedly mispronouncing Oprah's name as she says goodbye.
Production[edit]
The short animated crossover was produced by The Simpsons production team and featured the regular voice cast, including Dan Castellaneta as Homer, Julie Kavner as Marge, Nancy Cartwright as Bart, and Yeardley Smith as Lisa. Oprah Winfrey voiced her animated counterpart. The segment lasted approximately two minutes and combined the style of The Oprah Winfrey Show with the humor of The Simpsons.[5]
