Cultural references

• The new prisoner compares Cecil Terwilliger to Tito Jackson, the younger brother of Michael Jackson. Cecil then laments over never being compared to Michael, or even La Toya.
• Frasier and Niles Crane from Frasier are seen in the cafe Cecil visited. The characters were played by Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce respectively, who voice Sideshow Bob and Cecil Terwilliger.
• After he initially decides to kill Bart, Cecil quickly dismisses the notion, likening it to Jim Belushi's appearance in Blues Brothers 2000 as an example of someone being stuck in the shadow of their brother.
• In prison, Sideshow Bob was watching a production of Les Misérables. Bob said that Andrew Lloyd Webber must be spinning in his grave, to which a prisoner responds that Webber isn't dead, and he didn't write Les Misérables. • In actual fact, Jim Belushi did not appear in Blues Brothers 2000; John Goodman filled the role that was originally written for Belushi.
• When Lisa thanks Gary, he says that he's Benjamin, despite actually being Gary.
