- The episode title parodies the film Catch Me if You Can, along with the musical montage.
- Marge says that Dayton has the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and a Zipper Museum, featuring a zipper from every James Bond.
- Lackluster Video is a parody of Blockbuster Video.
- Outside Lackluster Video a poster said that if the movie doesn't star Sandra Bullock, your rental is free.
- When Bart sneaked into the adult section at the Lackluster Video he saw they had a section with "Unfunny Woody Allen".
- Moe rented out the TV miniseries Brideshead Revisited.

- Homer asks the Squeaky-Voiced Teen to look up the film Chocolate Star Wars, which the teen said didn't exist.

- When the Canadian rescue boat calls the Americans "Shatner-stealing Mexico touchers", it is referring to the fact that William Shatner is Canadian, but achieved fame through work in America. "Mexico-touching" refers to America's common border with Mexico.

- Marge says "so much for getting my groove back", a reference to How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
- Homer and Marge sing a brief parody of Conga by Miami Sound Machine.
- The numbers on Ned's and Rod's Viza cards spell out a hidden message. With each number corresponding to a letter of the alphabet, "12" corresponding to "L", "25" corresponding to "Y", and the other numbers being single digits, the numbers spell out "HEY DIDLEY DOH".
Continuity[edit]
- When the car stops at Miami Beach, the sound of the car screeching is slightly out-of-sync.
- After Bart lies to Marge about Lisa making him switch the channel, Lisa's necklace turns red when the scene zooms in on her.
- When Homer and Marge finally 'ditch' Bart and Lisa, the plate cover is small at first, but when Bart and Lisa emerge from beneath the plate cover it has obviously gotten bigger.
- Carl tells Marge Love Story is about "a Harvard chick," but the female lead Jenny Cavalleri was a music major undergraduate at Radcliffe College.
