Bart Simpson once got involved in an incident which he skateboards nude.

History

Homer asked Bart to skateboard naked to Krusty Burger and back as a dare, which he reluctantly did because Homer would have called him a chicken for life. After passing by many people, the police shot Bart's skateboard, causing him to collide with the window of Krusty Burger in front of the Flanders family, with Ned holding a French fry over his crotch. The police tied him to a lamppost, where Nelson laughed at him for hours on end. When Homer caught up with him and the police, he got Bart to take the blame for the idea, otherwise Homer would have been sent to a short parental course. They entered Krusty Burger, where Ned gave Bart spare clothes (as Homer only brought a shirt and socks) and Homer discovered Plopper.

Bart saw a video recording of it when flicking channels.

Part of it appeared in a thumbnail for a YouTube video called "The Simpson Family's Most Problematic Moments!", uploaded by Sherri and Terri.

Behind the Laughter

• The scene is inspired by a gag in the Austin Powers film series, in which the titular character is seen nude and partially obscured by various objects.
  • The idea for the scene was from Matt Groening, and the penis was Mike Scully's idea. However, on Simpsons Declassified, Mike Reiss claimed either Groening or James Brooks came up with the scene, the latter laughed when Nancy Cartwright was recording sound effects.
• Several changes were made during the production of the movie:
  • Sherri and Terri were originally going to be present in the scene, but were replaced with Homer. They are present in a piece of merchandise.
  • Bart was to visit a grievance counselor (voiced by Minnie Driver) about coping with the incident, but the scene was cut from the film.
• This scene was adapted for a game on the Simpsonsmovie.com website. The game ends either if the police car catches up to Bart, or he does the window collision.
  • Another piece of promotional material on the site shows Bart outside the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, even though it does not appear in the movie at that moment.
• Some of the producers thought that the scene could cause The Simpsons Movie to receive an R rating over Bart's penis briefly being visible, but they claimed that the MPAA reviewers saw a "really sad movie" immediately before, giving The Simpsons Movie a PG-13 rating.
  • However, the film was rated lower than PG-13 equivalents in some countries, such as a PG in the United Kingdom.
  • Some airings of the film (such as FX) placed a censor bar over Bart's genitals, with the phrase "European version only" (or possibly others) being inserted over it.. In the commentary, this was mentioned as possibly needing to be done completely if the scene would not pass the censors.
• A reference to the scene appears in the Burger King figures released with the movie, although Bart is depicted undressing while skateboarding, while it happens off-screen immediately before it starts in the movie.
• An issue of Mad magazine in Germany contains a variant of Bart landing on the window, with a magnifying glass over what appears to be his genitals, but is actually SpongeBob SquarePants's eyes.
