Cultural references
- The episode's title is a reference to Naked and Afraid, an American reality series that airs on the Discovery Channel. The episode takes elements from that series, including Homer and Marge trying to survive naked in the wilderness.
- The title is also a reference to the pixelization technique used for censorship.
- The movie at the beginning is a parody of the 1934 black-and-white film The Thin Man, with Mick and Moira being a parody of Nick and Nora Charles. Aster is a parody of Asta the dog.
- Love It or Lift is a reference to the TV show Love It or List It.
- The name of the bug spray, Ant-pocalypse Now, is a reference to the film Apocalypse Now.
- Bart's parent policy of "don't look, don't care" is a reference to the USA military policy of "don't ask, don't tell".

This is similar to the well-known case of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, with Samsung suspending sales of the smartphone and announcing a recall on 2 September 2016, following the discovery of a manufacturing defect in the phones' batteries which caused some units to generate excessive heat and combust.
