Cultural references

The title of this episode is an obvious parody of the film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
Some of the photoshop images of Krusty show him as Neil Armstrong, the Solidiers at Iwo Jima, the person at Tiananmen Square and Jim Leavelle.

In Man vs. Beast vs. Food, when telling Krusty who he is, Bart mentioned he convinced Krusty to run for congress.
The Hell's Satans from Take My Wife, Sleaze are seen among the "gun nuts".

When Marge and Homer are speaking to the representative at the airport, the color of his shirt changes from light blue to white in some scenes.
