The Revised Mystery Box.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out Mystery Box Revised content update was released April 1, 2015, file-named "v4_13_Superheroes_Takedown" and App Store update version 4.13.5. The update will add a Revised Mystery Box, available until April 30, 2015, enabling a new way to purchase in-game Cash with Donuts, more additions to the Mystery Box (including new later-level Cash and premium items), and to remove (almost all features of) the Superheroes event.

Upon installing, there is a 13.9MB/32.8MB/454.7MB update.

Gameplay

New Mystery Box

After the user logs in on April 1: Mystery box sales are down again this month! How could something that once topped the charts every week fall so far out of favor with the public? Actually sir, that's to be expected. People experienced the mystery box, they enjoyed it for a while, and now they've moved on. Perhaps we could come up with something else to sell them — something new and original! Yes yes, we'll get to that. But first we have to do everything we can to keep them interested in spending money on the old thing! Really, sir? Wouldn't it make more sense just to appreciate the mystery box for what it was and just remove it from the store? Let it die with dignity? Die? With dignity? I intend to do neither of those things. And the mystery box won't either! Change the interface! Offer a promotion! Rebalance the economy! Inspire nostalgia! We need to try anything and everything we can to keep it afloat! I suppose we could offer a new set of prizes for the mystery box. That's a start... but I was hoping for something more superficial. A new icon? Excellent. System Message The new Mystery Box has arrived! With new prizes AND a new icon. If the user doesn't have Kearney, and after tapping "OK": Open a new Mystery box and you might unlock me! If the user doesn't have Blue Haired Lawyer: Open a new Mystery box and you might unlock me! After tapping: System Message As any good drug pusher will tell you, the first one is free. A Mystery Box opens and you are rewarded with a prize.

Blue Haired Lawyer

If the user finds Blue Haired Lawyer in a new Mystery Box: Guess I just came into this game pro bono.

Kearney

If the user finds Kearney in a new Mystery Box: Nice! Let's celebrate by me punching you so hard your grandma cries.

Springfield Tire Fire

If the user finds Springfield Tire Fire in a new Mystery Box: Ah, the tire fire.... so many memories. Most of them carcinogenic.

Squeaky Voiced Teen

If the user finds Squeaky Voiced Teen in a new Mystery Box: I hope there's a career waiting for me at Krusty Burger. My girlfriend will kill me if there isn't.

Other changes made

• Kwik-E-Marts, Brown Houses, White Houses, Purple Houses, Krusty Burgers, Blue Houses, Pink Houses, Orange Houses and Gulp 'N' Blows now costs an increased ammount of money depending on how many the user has.
• Lard Lad Donuts, Lemon Tree, Chalmers' 1979 _ONDA, Minnow Pond, Squeaky Voice Teen, Kearney, Springfield Tire Yard, Channel 6 News Van, Bomb Shelter, Khlav Kalash Stand, Blue Haired Lawyer and Itchy & Scratchy Billboard now requires the tutorial to be completed to show up in the store.
• Bonsai Vivant Pt. 3 and Repot A Bonsai no longer opens Inventory upon completion.
• Testify Pt. 3, When Worlds Collide Pt. 1, Easy A Pooniversity Pt. 6 and Egoin' Crazy Pt. 5 no longer opens the Build menu upon completion.
• A new type of Mystery Boxes has been introduced.
• The Daily Play Combo final prize has been changed to the Revised Mystery Box.
• A new way to buy Moneys with Donuts has been added.
• Videos icon have been added to Inventory and the Superheroes' videos has been added to the list.
• Rad Mobile has been added to the Leisures and Decorations menu.
• Bartman Cave and Beach House has been added to Buildings menu.
• Radioactive Man Statue is now storable and now has a task Remembering A Hero, yelding 150 and 13 every 8 hours.
• Tree-hugging decorations were restored to the old look.
• The splash screen is back to the neutral one.
• Homer Buddha has been disabled for the duration of the Revised Mystery Box.
