San Diego is a city in California and home of the famous San Diego Zoo.

History

San Diego and Maine were mentioned in the lyrics to "Talkin' Softball" as representing the opposite ends of the United States.[1]

After the school successfully canceled the students' music, art, and gym programs, Bart griped to Lisa: "You made this school even worse, and it wasn't exactly San Diego State to begin with."[2]

Fit Tony, who later became "Fit-Fat Tony" and then just "Fat Tony," came from San Diego.[3]

The Simpson family and Matt Groening took part in a panel at the San Diego Comic Fest.[4]

The tour guide at Petrochem Petrochemical Corp., makers of Malibu Stacy dolls, played a corporate promotional video for Lisa and Marge featuring Smithers, owner of the world's largest collection of Malibu Stacys, saying to the camera, "I'll see you at Stacy-Con '94 at the San Diego Airport Hilton."[5]
