Opening sequence
The opening sequence parodies the Street Fighter video game series. La Muerte and Xibalba, characters from The Book of Life, appear on a fight
- A modified version of Jarabe Tapatío (the "Mexican hat dance") is heard throughout the opening.
- Otto has the number "666" on his hat, the number of the beast.
- La Muerte and Xibalba from Jorge R. Gutierrez's 2014 animated film The Book of Life appear as fighters.
- Such as in The Book of Life, the opening sequence combines elements from Mexico and the Day of the Dead, celebrated at the beginning of November in many communities in the United States.
- Los Simpsons Fighter! is a parody of the Street Fighter series.
The Information Rage
- The segment is in the style of the film Pacific Rim and is based on the ongoing political polarization in the United States between the Democratic and Republican parties.
- Mayor Quimby asks the people of Springfield to not turn their indecisiveness into another Big Gulp riot, referencing the line of fountain drinks owned by 7-Eleven.
