Mutiny on the Barty is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #192.

Synopsis[edit]

"After a school prank gone bad, Bart is afraid to face the consequences or his parents, so he and Milhouse stowaway on Captain McCallister's boat and set sail for exotic ports. However, an adventure on the high seas is not everything it is cracked up to be. Oh, did we mention the mutiny?"

Plot[edit]

Bart has put superglue on everything in Principal Skinner's office. When Skinner comes into his office the next morning he gets stuck to everything, and after he stumbles down the stairs, he is so badly injured that he must take an ambulance to the hospital. As Skinner is carried into the ambulance, he tells the students that he knows it was Bart and he will arrange a parent conference. That reminds Bart that Marge told him that he will not get any Christmas presents if there will be three parent conferences during the fall, and he knows that she was not lying. Bart realizes that he must escape from Springfield and his family, so he and Milhouse run away from the school and go to the harbor, where they hide in a box. The box is then lifted on board Captain McCallister's boat and when the coast is clear and the boat has set sail, they discover the load is full of food and they start to eat it. Bart and Milhouse then get sick and start moaning in pain, which is overheard by the crew and they discover Bart and Milhouse.

They have no way to contact the mainland and they cannot go back to the harbor, so McCallister decides they must work in the kitchen but after their first meal the crew becomes sick and they declare a mutiny. McCallister, Bart and Milhouse are in a lifeboat. Meanwhile, the Simpson and Van Houten families start to miss their sons so they start putting up inquiry overlap in Springfield. After a while, McCallister, Bart and Milhouse discover an island and set course for it. It turns out to be populated by angry monkeys, but after McCallister gives them some raisins, they calm down. They begin to build a hut on the island but it's not what they expected. McCallister gets depressed, because he hoped that he would not be wrecked again. Bart tries to cheer him up and tell him they can build a boat, but McCallister tell, him that they do not have enough forces to build one. But after he gets hit in the head with a coconut, he comes up with an idea: the monkeys can help them.

They start building a boat but Bart and Milhouse do nearly all the work. Meanwhile, back in Springfield, the police stop looking for the boys, so Homer starts looking for Bart, starting at Moe's. After a while, the boat is ready and they bring bananas as their load and leave the monkeys on the island. Just as they start to sail away a volcano on the island erupts. They had not previously noticed the volcano, so the monkeys start swimming after the boat and jump on board. McCallister lets the monkeys work, but they are lazy so he asks Bart and Milhouse to make some food for them so they feel more energized, but the monkeys do not like the food and throw McCallister, Bart and Milhouse overboard. After a few days they reach the Shelbyville Shoals, where Arnie Pye flies over with his helicopter and picks them up. Marge is watching the news and crying because it's been two weeks since Bart disappeared and he is probably dead now, but suddenly Bart comes home after Arnie drops him outside his house. Marge is happy and starts kissing him.

Bart and Milhouse's adventure is celebrated throughout the school, where Milhouse is rewarded with the key to the school made of chocolate and Bart gets a backscratcher that he will use to scratch Skinner's back as his punishment.
