San Diego is a major seaport and the second-largest city in California. Its population as of 2014 is 1,384,069.

It is the host of the annual San Diego Comic-Con, which has frequently featured appearances by actors, writers and producers of The Simpsons.

History

Fit Tony, who later became "Fit-Fat Tony" and then just "Fat Tony," comes from San Diego.

Julie Kavner graduated from San Diego State University in 1971 with a degree in drama.

Appearances

In "Homer at the Bat," the song at the end contains the lyric, "We're talking softball...from Maine to San Diego."

In "The President Wore Pearls," after the school successfully cancels the students' music, art and gym programs, Bart gripes to Lisa: "You made this school even worse, and it wasn't exactly San Diego State to begin with."

A couch gag from Season 25 shows Matt Groening and the Simpsons family holding a panel discussion at "San Diego Comic Fest."
