Rightio then...
Just a random bit of fun I thought I'd share (here). --Will (talk) 02:59, 12 December 2011 (EST)
- IMDb is sort of like a wiki, except everything has to be verified first. Occasionally, some stupid nonsense does get through, such as a false Doctor Who episode one that came around a couple of years ago. Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 06:57, 12 December 2011 (EST)
Simpsons on iTunes
I just wanted to give you this link, where you can request more Simpsons seasons on iTunes:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
I've been requesting for quite some time now. I just wanted to tell you about that.
WebkinzMania 13:48, 17 December 2011 (EST)
- Urm... well, I don't have an iPod (yet) so doesn't really help me :P Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 13:51, 17 December 2011 (EST)
- Lol, you have iTunes itself? I can help out with some episodes if they add it. I already have season 21 on iTunes and am waiting to get 22 for Christmas this year. I have a few other episodes from earlier seasons too. WebkinzMania 15:59, 18 December 2011 (EST)
- No, I don't have iTunes. No need for it when I don't have an iPod :P The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 16:00, 18 December 2011 (EST)

Coldplay
What is your favourite song of theirs? Jhonevans 08:33, 21 December 2011 (EST)
- Well... kind of off topic you know. There are too many good songs to choose from. I can narrow it down to about 4 songs that I think are all equal, Don't Panic, Paradise, Princess of China and Lost+ The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 08:36, 21 December 2011 (EST)
Haha, surprised Yellow or The Scientist wasn't on your list. I see you added me as a foe..? Jhonevans 08:58, 21 December 2011 (EST)
- They come close. And yes, I added you as a foe. You're from Wikia, therefore you're a foe of mine. The Solar Dragon 08:59, 21 December 2011 (EST)
And yet I have been so nice to you... Jhonevans 09:04, 21 December 2011 (EST)
Yeah, yeah. One more question. Would you have left wikia if they provided the Monobook option originally? (keep in mind you wouldn't have been banned etc.) Jhonevans 09:09, 21 December 2011 (EST)
- Our whole quarrel with Wikia was because of the skin. However, even if they hadn't have made a new skin, we may have left at a later point seeing all their shit featured they've made now (replacing talk pages, user pages etc.) Plus, now we're independent, we are so much better than we ever were on Wikia. New skin, new extensions, a lot more pages and more freedom to do as we please. It's great. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 10:26, 21 December 2011 (EST)

Scratchy's Service Station
For some strange reason, the infobox image for Scratchy's Service Station and Lunch Counter is not showing up in the article. I built and previewed the article while the database was locked, and everything looked fine then. After that, I copied the code to a text file and kept it until the database was unlocked, at which time I copied the code back onto the wiki and saved the article. Everything worked fine except the image in the infobox. Any idea what's up?(shrug) -- Mythigator 04:09, 23 December 2011 (EST)
- I've seen this before but the usual method of fixing it didn't work. Plus, I don't see any reason why it should be doing this. The only time this has happened before was because the image name has a strange symbol in, which it didn't this time. I've asked Jake though so hopefully he should fix it. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 04:29, 23 December 2011 (EST)
- Well, the image shows up now, and I notice that the file name now has spaces in it (the idea behind the rename being to give the database a nudge?), so whatever you and/or Jake did, it worked. Thanks. -- Mythigator 08:26, 23 December 2011 (EST)

Hi, how do i verify my email adress to my piwik account? And it would be great if you could put up a notis that when people create an article, they should also make sure there's a link to it. Because it's no use to have orphaned pages. FatHomerTalk 15:33, 2 January 2012 (EST)
- Urm... I'm not sure as not even I have done so. You'll have to ask Jake. I try to link to articles when I make them (through appearances pages or otherwise) but some people don't. It's common sense mostly. The Solar Dragon 15:35, 2 January 2012 (EST)
Shouldn't some of these be deleted, Category:Images_-_User_space ? FatHomerTalk 08:57, 3 January 2012 (EST)
wikisimpsons.com?
Hi,
I'm just wondering why we don't have the adress "wikisimpsons.com"? It's not registered and our name is "Wikisimpsons". FatHomerTalk 04:37, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- simpsonswiki.net was chosen as more people would search for "simpsons wiki" than "wikisimpsons". That's the only reason. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 06:46, 7 January 2012 (EST)
- There is also an address called http://wikisimpsons.net, but that's been taken up by a Simpsons sign in Spanish. Also, Solar, I've corrected a spelling mistake in your comment. Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 07:05, 7 January 2012 (EST)

Simpsons Wikia
I don't know if you have any contact with the guys that run the Simpsons Wikia, but if you do, you may want to tell them to edit their Meta Description to reflect their name change from Wikisimpsons to Simpsons Wiki. Not only is it incorrect, but it's actually hurting our search rankings as well. --Jake 08:49, 12 January 2012 (EST)

- Wow, I didn't expect to receive such a prompt response from a Wikia site. Thanks! :) --Jake 15:25, 12 January 2012 (EST)
- Well, I kind of made a new account who no one suspected as me and asked an admin on the chat function as well as leaving a talk page comment on an admin's page (which looks unlike anything I would write and unsigned of course, I know how to avoid detection :P) ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:26, 12 January 2012 (EST)

- Yeah, I couldn't really go in and ask them to do it as me. I mean, I'm blocked :P (Talk - Contribs.) 16:57, 12 January 2012 (EST)
- Just for future reference, gents ... I'm on decent terms with the Simpsons Wikia crowd, so if we have any further need to contact them in an official capacity, there should be no problem about me dropping them a line. -- Mythigator 18:48, 12 January 2012 (EST)

Do you know what the file name is for the 500th episode poster? I'm sure it's still on the wiki, but it's not on any of the pages. Phinbart - just one of the huge Bart fans! 14:28, 12 January 2012 (EST)

Coming across some old, old interactions between others on another wiki, including you, i felt like stopping by. Despite that fact that I was banned for no reason for several months due to supergeeky1's lies, I still have no ill feelings towards you and the others here and was overjoyed at yet another independent wiki surpassing the crap on wikia (i still am struggling to make the extra 5000 articles i need). A website called Wikia, and a community called us
I am not Homer7426 (technically). I am not a Wikian (technically). I am a user that edits a wiki about The Simpsons hosted by Wikia. Jhonevans has quoted bits of some of your e-mails. Most of the people at Wikia, we never chose to edit there, we just found it randomly or already edited other wikis there and found the Simpsons one. People like Phinbart of Frederick, for example, probably found this one first (I know Phinbart didn't). You spent ages spamming the site for people to move, so now we might. Now, however, you seem to have gone against this. If you want more editors, pages etc., then we could move. This has not yet been decided by the community on the other wiki. There will be some conditions, if you do want this to happen:
- Achievements
Many people like these, so I don't know why they were removed in the first place. They weren't copyright Wikia, wre they?
- Chat
Quite a load better than editor's meetings, don't you think?
- Admins from the other wiki having admin rights here
After you get used to them, it's annoying without them.
That's roughly it for now. Please reply sensibly, and I don't wish you a happy birthday, yet. By the way, I live about 50 miles away from you. Homer7426 06:09, 22 January 2012 (EST)
- Okay, I'm going to reply sensibly as you said (although those last couple of sentences almost swayed me to be sarcastic about this whole thing).
- Achievements
- Achievements are a Wikia-only extension. They have not released the code for this extension so we can not get it here. Also, with the extension, we noticed a lot of spam and vandal edits happening. So, even if the code was released, we would likely not get them. If Wikia does release the code for achievements, we might be swayed to go for a trial run to see how they go. If we get the spam again, then they would be gone. However, we do have another award system, The Golden Homer Award. And, we may run another competition again at some point (I provided the prizes of the last competition), these were actual prizes, not just wiki code etc.
- Chat
- The chat function, it isn't as good as IRC. You can either use the Freenode gateway and connect to our #wikisimpsons channel (Linky) or download a chat client (I use ChatZilla). Both of these have more features than Wikia's chat function. You can set the channel modes to more, make it so people with voice only can speak, give other users operator powers, set topics, etc. If you were to use IRC, you may agree that it is better than the chat.
- Admins from the other wiki having admin rights here
- Admins from the other wiki retaining their admin rights, if you guys to decide to come over, I would like to see you guys edit more first and gain my trust. I would not like to give you guys admin rights only for you to delete our articles. I would likely wait a month or so and then the Wikia admins would be free to place requests for their rights. However, since our community had no say in who got the admin rights on Simpsons Wikia, we might be reluctant to accept a new wave of users as admins straight away. We would need time to gain your trust and respect then the chances are, you will be accepted as admins.
- Hopefully these will give you the answers you want. Also, if you are still unsure why we moved, check the Sitenotice's history (if MediaWiki:Sitenotice even still exists on Simpsons Wikia) and the User Rights Log and block log. They may give you the answers you are looking for and may show you what Wikia staff are really like.
- Thank you, The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 06:36, 22 January 2012 (EST)
Wikia link
Hi, Mr. Wobbly. Your Common.css contains a Wikia link. Homer 7426 06:22, 22 January 2012 (EST)
- I know that. However, it's not an actual link so it's fine. Solar Dragon (Talk • Contribs.) 06:24, 22 January 2012 (EST)
- Okay. Sorry about my sig, it messed up. Homer7426 06:33, 22 January 2012 (EST)
Some things - including having Oasis skin
Hello, again. If we move, we should keep the low amount of templates from the other wiki. Also, we could enable Oasis skin with a page called User:User/Skin used. This would default to whatever skin this uses at the moment. The tab template pages were the main problem, so we could use the {{#switch: thing for the page, so if it's Oasis it makes it smaller and stuff, otherwise it's the same size. Randomno 08:43, 22 January 2012 (EST)
- What you're asking is to write an entirely new MediaWiki function which is pretty much impossible for any of us here to do. Also, we can't have the Oasis skin as once again, it is a Wikia only extension and they have not released the code for it so we can't even have it as a skin option. We do, however, have a Monaco option, which was Wikia's old skin. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 09:08, 22 January 2012 (EST)

Question
Hello Solar Dragon. I know we have never talked before, but I have a couple of questions to ask. I notice on the Wiki editor, there are three buttons (Wikitext, Preview, Changes) and then a long white bar to the end of the page. If you are interested, this code can remove the white bar:
.wikiEditor-ui-controls {
background-color:#FFF9CF;
}
.wikiEditor-ui-buttons {
background-color:#FFF9CF;
border-top:0;
}
Also, are you interested in changing the colors of the buttons. Currently they are a simple grey color. Here is an image that uses the tab gradients to see if you like. If you don't want either of these, that is okay. I just wanted to ask. Thanks for your time. DaRanger (Talk) 09:04, 23 January 2012 (EST)
- Hi, we don't have a css for the actual skin available to the admins. If you ask Jake this though, I'm sure he'll be happy to comply with these. Thanks, (Talk - Contribs.) 12:14, 23 January 2012 (EST)
Sorry about chat
Sorry for not talking on chat since a while ago, I got a bit distracted. Randomno 12:54, 23 January 2012 (EST)

"Alias(es)" section on infoboxes
I think we could have an "Alias(es)" section for the infoboxes. I know a few to add. Randomno 13:20, 23 January 2012 (EST)
- Hmm... this is something that could actually be added. I'm on it. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 13:21, 23 January 2012 (EST)
Show/Hide
Hi!
How do I add a show/hide option to sections? FatHomerTalk 15:10, 23 January 2012 (EST)
- Look at MediaWiki:Common.js. The code under "/** Collapsible tables", add that to you wiki's Common.js then copy the show/hide code from templates over. (Talk - Contribs.) 15:21, 23 January 2012 (EST)
Merging
I wouldn't take any further action in the merge without notifying TheShdaowCrow and RRabbit42. They are the main ones you will have to convince. Any blocks will be unblocked by me and I will speak with them if they are in disagreement with you, to be able to discuss it. However, chat is a rarity for them, so you will have to message them on their talk pages. Also, just because you have Randomno does mean I will want to leave. And on some comments I saw in chat (sorry was sleeping at the time), we have our own awards system too. We recently introduced more achievements that were previously disable, and we have seen an increase in editing, with very little spam editing. Any spam editing was very easy to control also, so if you're capable of getting it, I would suggest it. But then again, that might be me helping the enemy. Also, if we overtake Simpsons Wiki, does that mean revenue would actually be high enough for admin payment (as minor as it might be}? Jhonevans 16:17, 23 January 2012 (EST)
- Well, if you guys would ask them first, that would be great. I'm sure it'd be easier for us if two internal admins put the proposal forwards first before we came in. Tell them about what we've been discussing and ask them to come on chat. There is no way at all for us to get achievements. It is a Wikia only thing and Wikia generally doesn't release code for anything (the only reason there is a Monaco skin port is because someone made it from scratch). And I'm sure if we get increased money, it would be better off going into the wiki rather than the admins pockets. We are not for-profit and it's make us seem no better than Wikia staff. If we ever do get more than enough money to keep the site going, I'm sure we'd put it into removing ads from the wiki and possibly even advertising the wiki more around the Internet (Facebook ads etc.) Either that or paying for bigger servers and more featured of course. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 17:02, 23 January 2012 (EST)
