- The song "Sky Police" is a parody of "Baby Face" with music written by Harry Akst and lyrics by Benny Davis.

- Homer compares deleting e-mail updates from LinkedIn with the fact of God ignoring Bart's prayers.
- After finding out that the insurance company would not cover the damages at the church, Gil Gunderson happily says that the people at the office will be doing the "Saluki Strut" and then cheers for "Southern Illinois". He is referring to Southern Illinois Salukis, the athletic teams from SIU. Southern Illinois Salukis, howere, do not have a strut.
