Cultural references
- The episode title is a pun on the musical Bye Bye Birdie.
- The advert for Stabby-Oh's is a parody of Lucky Charms.
- The scene where the other baby-helping business has to close down is a parody of Titanic
- During the scene where Marge chases the school bus, Milhouse says, "It's like Speed 2! Only with a bus instead of a boat!", off-handedly summarizing the plot of the original film, Speed.
- When Bart and Milhouse are making unkind comments about Francine Rhenquist on her first day at Springfield Elementary School, Milhouse says, "Yeah, she thinks she's Babe: Pig in the City", referring to the second movie about Babe the pig.
- The song playing during the baby-proofing montage is '"Always Safety First" by NRBQ.
