Holiday Information
|
Presidents' Day, officially known as Washington's Birthday, is a holiday in the United States celebrated to honor all individuals who have served as presidents of the United States.
History
After reading a newspaper article about a fish with three eyes, Marge sighed, expressing her frustration about the situation. She expected Governor Mary Bailey to finally step in and do something about that hideous genetic mutation. Homer replied that if he were governor, he’d find better things to do with his time—like getting Washington's Birthday and Lincoln's Birthday back as separate paid holidays—because Presidents' Day is a rip-off.[1]
Springfield Elementary School held a Presidents' Day pageant featuring a parade of lesser-known presidents, a reenactment of Abraham Lincoln's murder in hands of John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theatre, and a thorough retelling of the life of George Washington.[2]
