- The scene in the couch gag where Marge serves the Thanksgiving turkey is a visual pun on the Norman Rockwell painting Freedom from Want.
- Bart, Lisa and Maggie play "Bonk It"! in the car. Bonk it! is a parody of "Bop It!".
