- The first segment, "Clown Without Pity" is an overall spoof of the Twilight Zone episode, Living Doll.
- Homer sings the Oscar Mayer song only with his name in place of the O-S-C-A-R and the M-A-Y-E-R.
- "King Homer" is obviously a parody of King Kong.

- The title "Dial Z for Zombies" is a reference to "'Dial M for Murder'".
- When Bart raises the dead, he's wearing a Michael Jackson record on his head (aptly, it's the Thriller album).
