The Bob Next Door is the twenty-second episode of season 21.
Synopsis
Bart believes that the Simpsons' new neighbor, Walt, is actually his old arch-enemy, Sideshow Bob. Marge tries to convince Bart otherwise by taking him to visit Bob in the state penitentiary. The truth, however, is more disturbing than even Bart suspects.
Special Guest Voice Kelsey Grammer returns as Sideshow Bob.
Plot
Springfield is suffering from an economic crisis. Mayor Quimby stops the removing of dead animals from the road, bringing cutbacks to Springfield Elementary School(by shortening the school day to arrival), and criminals to be released that were convicted for small crimes. Many citizens move because of the cutbacks, Homer wishes to buy a house because of the smell of cookies. Homer cannot buy the house because Walt already. Bart comes under the impression that Walt is Sideshow Bob. Bart decides to prove that Walt is Sideshow Bob. Bart first plays Sideshow Bob's favorite music, in vain. Bart then sneaks into Walt's house. Marge catches Bart and decides to take him to jail to show him that Sideshow Bob remains in jail. Bart and Marge see Sideshow Bob in his cell writing "Bart Will Die in his" cell. Walt then asks Bart if he would go with him to see a game. Bart accepts and goes with him. Sideshow Bob chokes on his pen and spits it in the guard's eye, takes his keys, and escapes from the prison. Walt tells Bart that he is really Sideshow Bob. The real Walt travels to the the Simpson's home. Marge soaks him with a hose and Homer closes a window on him. Walt then shows them the house with pictures of Bart with knives in them. Lisa finds a magazine where it shows that Sideshow Bob was plotting to kill Bart at The Five Corners. Sideshow Bob then tells Bart of his deed, stealing Walt's face in jail. A waitress falls for Sideshow Bob as Walt and removes a thread she thought was on his jacket, revealing he had no face. Sideshow Bob ran away at that point. The Simpson family came there, the waitress tells them that Sideshow Bob traveled to Mexico. Walt knows this is not true and travels to The Five Corners, while the Simpsons go to Mexico. Sideshow Bob arrives at The Five Corners and tells Bart his plan to kill him in another country making it legal in America. Walt arrives and and takes the gun. Walt unfortunately had a bee under Sideshow Bob's face, leaving Sideshow Bob an opening to take the gun. Chief Wiggims arrives with other cops. Sideshow Bob jumps to another country, which is out of their job. Other officials from other countries come up making it impossible for Sideshow Bob to escape. In the end, one of Ned Flander's relatives comes, Ned and his relative make terrible rhymes, making Homer angry. In the end, Homer rants about Flanders.
