Synopsis[edit]

"Bart gets in trouble on Grandparents Day at school and is forced to hang out with Skinner's mother as punishment. After spending time with various grandmas in the neighborhood, he learns the benefits of hanging out with the elderly, but eventually recognizes the dangers of taking advantage of them. Meanwhile, Peekimon Get has taken over the town of Springfield."

Plot[edit]

Bart is serving old woman at a table at a restaurant, showing mannerism and being educated, and asks the viewer if they'd know why he's doing it and he starts narrating.

Two months earlier, at grandparents' day, the kids in Bart's class, he changes the lyrics of a song for the grandparents visiting, and Skinner takes him to detention, but Grampa stops them, saying he's strong to punish a little boy but he'd be scared to punish a veteran. Skinner does that and punishes him to write "I just wrote one and I'm already tired" on the blackboard.

At his office, Skinner is thinking of a punishment for Bart when his mother walks in and asks him to take her to the bus stop. Without any other punishments in mind, he punishes Bart to do his task.

At the Power Plant, Lenny walks in the reactor core while playing Peekimon Get and catching a Rottata. Homer shows Lenny and Carl he's playing it too and enters the core, but the shift is over and they close the door on him, sealing him inside.

Bart walks Agnes through the corridor and they meet and makes fun of Martin and his grandma, then at the bus stop he gets on with her to the candy store next to the place she'll depart. Meanwhile, Homer catches a Rattlesnitch on Frank "Grimey" Grimes' grave, and other Springfielders do too.

Back at home, Homer gives Maggie a phone with Peekimon Get, giving her a way to see the monsters in her room. The catching goes on, as Homer catches Peekimons at the church, and then tries to catch a skunk thinking it was a Skunkasan, but fails and the skunk farts him and he goes home to get a bath. All cleaned up, the family goes out and they enter the Kwik-E-Mart, full of people takes.

Bart starts taking the opportunity of the old women's gifts for keeping them company, but at the Curl Up and Dye, a woman, called Phoebe, catches on what he's doing, but settles to give him money if he can pick her up four days in a row from the Sunnyday Nursing Home. Meanwhile Homer says to Lisa he found out he can buy Peekimons with real dollars and, after some hesitation, Lisa agrees too.

Bart arrives at the nursing home and takes her out in the woods admiring the nature together. After four days, she gives him the promised money, but he refuses. Phoebe, having acknowledged he changed, bequeaths him her camera.

Not finding what bequeath means, Bart goes to the Springfield Library to see and finds out it means giving an item away when someone dies, and discovers she's probably sick. Arriving the nursing home he finds out she was using him to escape.

Bart turns to Homer and Lisa, who were using cheat codes for the game, to get help on finding Phoebe, and they go to the lake they used to go to. They ask other Peekimon Get played for help on finding her. They find her and bring her back, with Bart saying he learned that playing with women's hearts is wrong and it's wrong to take advantage of the elderly, and at the Retirement Castle it shows that it was Bart telling Grampa the whole story.

At home, Marge tells Homer she knew of the 600 dollars spent to get the cheats and Homer assures her the game is soon going to fade away. At Luigi's, Skinner is having dinner with a woman, when Agnes arrives with Milhouse in tow, making fun of them.

Production[edit]

The working title for the episode was "The Grandson Experience".[1] The idea to make Bart a paid "grandson" came from showrunner Al Jean.[2] The scene of Bart saying "taking the piss" repeatedly was originally supposed to be Bart just saying "piss" repeatedly. However, censors told the producers that Bart had to say the full line "taking the piss" instead.[3]

Reception[edit]

Nancy Cartwright was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance in the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards for voicing Bart Simpson in this episode, but he lost to Seth MacFarlane for Family Guy.[4]
