Behind the Laughter[edit]
The Angelica Button series parodies Harry Potter. The books were supposedly written by T. R. Francis, a parody of Harry Potter J. K. Rowling. The Angelica Button series has been mentioned in four episodes. When Lisa met T. R. in person, she revealed that it's a fake name and she's just an actress - a fake front posing for the books' jacket photos, and the books' plots are based on market research and written by a group of pill-popping literature majors desperate for work.[1]
Even though Angelica Button is a parody of Harry Potter, the Harry Potter series is also real within the universe of The Simpsons—as seen, for example, when the family meet J. K. Rowling in the episode "The Regina Monologues".
Angelica Button's house might be the similarity of Gryffindor because her symbol on her uniform is a lion, like the Gryffindor's logo.
Many of the titles are parodies of Harry Potter titles:
- The Dragon King's Trundle Bed - Half-Blood Prince
- The Teacup of Terror - Goblet of Fire
- The Deadly Denouncement - Deathly Hallows
- The Infinite Armoire - Chamber of Secrets
- The Chalice of Consequence - Goblet of Fire
- The Mystery of Secrets - Chamber of Secrets
- The Half-Blood Pudding - Half-Blood Prince
- The Ending Where She Dies But Doesn't - Deathly Hallows
As are many of the characters:
- Angelica Button - Harry Potter
- Lord Evilton - Cornelius Fudge
- Professor Skizzletwitch - Remus Lupin
- Malicious Krubb - Severus Snape/Lucius Malfoy
- Headmaster Greystash - Albus Dumbledore
