Town/City Information
|
Albany is the capital city of New York.
History[edit]
Grampa was voted "the handsomest boy in Albany, New York".[1]
Seymour Skinner claims that "steamed hams" is an Albany expression.[2]
During a school recycling campaign, Principal Skinner announces that the school is "within striking distance of our trip to Albany," which inspires applause among the students. Later in the episode, after learning how little money can be raised by recycling newspaper, Skinner announces "Sorry, kids. The trip to Albany is off." The kids groan in unison.[3]
After Police Cops change lead character Homer Simpson from a cool hero into a bumbling idiot, Homer gains a following waiting for him to do something stupid. At the Plant, with a crowd of colleagues watching, Homer spills his fondue pot over the control panel, shorting out the circuitry and in turn blacking out Albany.[4]
While looking for father-and-son scams they can pull, Homer and Bart come across the "Albany ham scam" in the book A Child's Garden of Cons.[5]
While in The Prodigy Barn toy store, Bart was playing a video game that involved blasting the capital cities of every state. He was having fun, until he realized that it was an educational game and threw the controller at the TV screen, exclaiming "That'll teach you to teach me!"[6]
While dreaming, Lisa mentioned that most people think New York City is the state capital instead of Albany.[7]
