Play Information
|
The Salesman's Bad Day is a play directed by Llewellyn Sinclair and starring Krusty the Clown.
History
After Krusty quit comedy acting, he starred in The Salesman's Bad Day, which was a rewrite of Death of a Salesman. Llewellyn Sinclair rewrote the play and changed the name because the rights to Death of a Salesman were too expensive. In the play, Krusty played the role of the Salesman, based on the character Willy Loman. Sinclair told Krusty that the role he was playing was basically himself.
On the opening night of the play, Krusty started to have a breakdown because he didn't think he could do serious acting. During this breakdown, he started to hit himself with a hammer, causing the audience to laugh. Llewellyn Sinclair then told Krusty to keep the audience laughing and Krusty started doing a comedy sketch on the stage.
The ghost of Arthur Miller, who wrote Death of a Salesman, then appeared and he hated what Krusty was doing to the play.
