Synopsis[edit]

"It's a supersized story about the bicentennial celebration of the history of Springfield. Witness the heretofore untold and influential past of the town that's affectionately become known as "America's crudbucket," and find out from tales of its fantastic forefathers to its civil war to its fight for civil rights why the worst city in the country is also its funniest!"

Plot[edit]

Lisa's class takes a field trip to the Springfield Town Hall when the mayor spends the tax money an on indoor polo match with Springfield's richest citizens. Lisa sends a tweet about what she saw and immediately an angry mob makes a big fuss over what they have read about. Quimby says that they are preparing a party for the city's 200 anniversary. Lisa points out that it would be celebrated in 1996, to which Quimby replies that they were busy with Independence Day back then. The residents stop being angry at Quimby and the feast is prepared. Lisa wants something educational at the anniversary, so she gets Comic Book Guy to read a story about how America's forefathers visited Springfield. In his story, Benjamin Franklin becomes a superhero and saves George Washington from the English. Lisa gets mad at Comic Book Guy because his story is not true, and she reads a story she learned from the Springfield Historical Society. Her story is about two twin sisters who fought on opposite sides of the Civil War because they lived in a house on the border between the northern and southern states, and both were called on either side. The sisters began fighting and after they lost their uniforms, the soldiers found out that they were women and they ended the war because they did not want to fight for them.

Lisa then tells a new story about the Great Depression. It's about a father and son who were hungry and dressed up as bears to steal people's picnic baskets. In the woods his father stole a picnic basket after his son pushed him away with a slingshot and hit (Teddy Roosevelt), who was in the woods with a photographer. The son comes to Teddy and asks if he has seen his father. Teddy thinks that the boy is a talking bear and hugs him when the photographer takes a picture, which serves as inspiration for the Teddy Bear. His father is sent to the White House as a carpet. Professor Frink tells a story about how his grandfather met the Wright Bothers. Frink's grandfather sent his bike to the brothers' bicycle repair and accidentally activated its wings. The brothers began to fly with the bike, which gave them the idea for the airplane. Edna tells about how women got the right to vote. The women were angry that the men voted for "Women wear silly hats day", so they visited the mayor and told him that they would tell all the men's dirty secrets to the public unless they get the right to vote, so they got the right to vote. Milo tells about how the creators of Superman visited The Apothecary's Drugstore and told their plans to the waiter, who made them change Superman's character. The waiter discovered it several years later and told Matt Groening while driving taxi, which gave Groening the idea for Futurama. The horses from the polo match come to the party and chase the humans away from the town. Years later, all the inhabitants of the city are half horse.
