Plot

When Homer is playing noisily in the yard, it disrupts Flanders' bible-study group. Coaxed by the reverend, a frustrated Flanders takes it upon himself to redeem Homer by inviting the Simpson family on his church retreat to Jerusalem. Homer gets caught by officals for saying pancakes are better than latkes. The tour guide says Israel is safe. They first go to the old city but unappreciative of the history and culture, Homer would rather hang out at the hotel’s breakfast buffet rather than tour the city. But when an eccentric tour guide takes the group to famous monuments, including the Dome of the Rock and the Wailing Wall, Homer finally proves he is not beyond salvation.[2] They go to where Jesus had the last supper. The tour guide gets in a fight with a guy and Israeli curses. Flanders prays for homer to be saved. He asks him to show respect. He tells him to turn the camera off like dracula and tells him he might benefit from the spririuality. Homer orders falafal with pepperoni and the guy askes if he knows what falafel is. He says yes. They stick notes in the wall. Bart read and comments on them rudely. Homer chokes Bart yest again. Bart skateboards the wall. he tour guides neice chases him. Girl flips him using israeli karate. She beats him up badly. Flanders prays again. Thanks for homer simpson. Homer sleeps on holy bed. Flanders loses it. Flanders gets banned. Decides Homer is not worth saving. Homer tries to chase him. He rides camel away. Flanders walks out store. Israel transformers. Homer falls off. Camel runs off. He is thirsty sings about it. Most likely delirious. Drinks alt water and collapses. Sees Veggie Tales. Tells him of destiny. arge saves him. He is chosen one. Thinks he is messiah. THey end up in hotel room. Dr. Hibbert has a word with marge. Homer has Jerusualm Syndrome. Goes to dome of the rock. Homer gives a speech. Everyone gets Jerusulum Syndrome. They go home.

Trivia

  • The set air date is Palm Sunday. Executive Producer Al Jean said "so it’ll be a show that all faiths can come together and be offended by"[1]

Cultural References

  • The title is a reference to the film of 1965, "The Greatest Story Ever Told", directed by George Stevens.
