The Houston Astros formerly the Houston Colt .45s are a current Major League Baseball (MLB) team based in Houston, Texas.

History

Ned was dreaming and saw his personal hell and one of the plagues inside said "Houston in the American League", a reference to the Astros' switch to the American League in 2013.

Behind the Laughter

The Houston Astros were a Major League Baseball team in the National League from its creation in 1962 until their 50th anniversary in 2012, where the team endured their third straight 100-loss season. Their fans weren't pleased over the move and many thought the Brewers, who used to be in the American League were going to be moved instead. However, the Astros were changed from the National League Central to the American League West in 2013 to create two fifteen-team leagues, filled with fair five-league divisions. In their time in the American League the Astros struggled in their first two seasons in 2013 and 2014 but later became a generally dominant force in the league since 2015, earning a wild card berth twice, winning the Al West 6 times, winning the AL Pennant 4 times, won the 2017 and 2022 World Series, and have appeared in the MLB playoff every year since 2015 (with the exception of 2016.) The team has also generally became known for a sign-stealing scandal that broke in the 2019-20 MLB offseason where they were revealed to have used technology to illegally steal signs in the 2017 and 2018 season. This has led to the team often receiving more negative crowd reactions compared to other MLB teams by opposing teams since the scandal.
